1: We spent all off season saying just find a way to win close games where it's ugly and things ain't perfect. Rhule then finds a way to win when it's ugly and things ain't perfect. Fans now want stylistic wins with flair and ease.

Note to fans: Program building is incremental. Take your win. And as the late great Richard Pryor said "Have a coke and a smile and shut the fuck up."

2: Dylan really needed a game like this. What I mean is one where the team wins despite his not so great performance. The savior talk was too much. Today the savior was a punter and an unrecruited JUCO transfer walkon. Now he can just go out and play and not have this "Jesus in cleats" expectation. It's a team game where sometimes your teammates lift you up on an off day. Might be a lesson for the fans more than Dylan in the end.

3: The DL showed out. Ty made plays. Nash blew up lots of plays. James Williams is a feel good story. Umanmiellan was getting pressure as well. Jeudy made a flash play. The defense held a good RB to basically nothing for 3 quarters. Bravo.

4: The bye week comes at the exact moment that we need one.

5: Foley shouldn't get a day off despite the bye week. If he is a coach worth keeping the two weeks is plenty of time to get things corrected. If not, a change is needed.

6: We didn't get the interference calls like last week but there were a few where we should have.

7: How upset were Rutgers fans watching a guy with an Italian name make play after play?

Some of this reminds me of 2016, a bit of a mirage in the first half of the season.

Now, 2016 could have been a building block also, but he went to a new defense, different style qb, and never developed recruits well.

I think even if the back half is rough it’ll be at least 7-5 and will keep building. So much guys have played meaningful minutes that even all the old guys we lose would still put us in the right direction.

Now get more WR’s for Dylan, a damned healthy, decent kicker, and clone the 4 RBs into one so we have a complete back

Thoughts from what I saw yesterday:

Jeudy must have made a move because he was a captain and had more reps yesterday.

We play so many guys in the front 6 of our defense. Shavers and McGahee are starting to get meaningful snaps in the first half of games. This pays off huge in long games like yesterday and for building depth next year.

I like the strategy of using one of Van Poppel's four games yesterday. He made a couple good plays and we needed his extra size.

Glad to have Javin Wright back. He played a lot in the crucial last couple series to close the game out.

Would be nice to get either of the Hill's back for the Indiana game so we have some more depth and size at CB.

Banks and Neyor get held a lot coming out of their breaks on deeper routes. They have to fight through those harder to either get a penalty or get open.

I really liked the 6 OL set with Mazuccua coming in as a second RT. They have some interesting plays to build off of that set.

I feel like our OL does well in the first half when we have a game plan but once the other team figures it out in the second we have trouble keeping a pocket.

Our short passing, jet sweep, and screen game keeps getting better. It might be the best part of our offense.

The throw to Barney where Raiola threw to the inside on a flag route was amazing. He threw him open in a way I have rarely seen.

We need a RB #1 next year.

Tbf to this year’s team, they’ve actually beaten some teams with a pulse.

That Oregon team was vastly overrated (and finished 4-8).

This was the first game Dylan looked like a true FR. He was bad in the second half but there are a lot of things that can be fixed.

He does a decent job of throwing balls away at times, he just needs to get down the decision making on taking off to run. Each game there have been a few of these where there were open yards where he could have gotten a chunk and protected himself with a slide.

It seems his instinct is to hold onto the ball or look for the bomb throwing across his body.
