- With today's victory Nebraska improved to 10-8 all-time against Penn State, including 4-1 as Big Ten opponents. The Huskers lead the all-time series in Lincoln 6-2.

- Redshirt freshman quarterback Luke McCaffrey and true freshman receiver Alante Brown made their first career starts in today's game.

- McCaffrey led Nebraska to scores on his first two drives as a starter. On an 11-play, 75-yard touchdown drive to open the game, McCaffrey completed 4-of-5 passes for 45 yards and rushed three times for 24 yards, including a 1-yard TD run

- McCaffrey finished the game with 219 total yards, including 152 passing yards while completed 13-of-21 passes. He also rushed 13 times for 67 yards, both team highs.

- Nebraska took a 7-0 lead with an 11-play, 75-yard touchdown drive to open the game. It marked the second time in three games this season Nebraska has taken the opening kickoff for a touchdown and a 7-0 lead (also at Ohio State). Under Scott Frost, Nebraska has scored on its opening possession 13 times in 27 games (12 TD, 1 FG)

- Senior safety Deontai Williams had a sack and a 26-yard fumble return for a touchdown to give Nebraska a 24-3 lead in the second quarter. Williams' fumble return for a touchdown is Nebraska's first rumble return for a touchdown since Alex Davis recovered a fumble in the end zone in the 2019 season opener against South Alabama

- The fumble recover was the second of Williams' career and his fourth career takeaway.

- Junior cornerback Cam Taylor-Britt had a first-quarter interception he returned 55 yards to the PSU 15. It was Taylor-Britt's first interception of the season and the fourth of his career (3 in 2019). The interception set up a 22-yard Husker field goal to give NU a 10-0 lead

- Taylor-Britt finished the day with 115 return yards, including 55 interception return yards, 25 punt return yards and a 35-yard return of a missed field goal in the third quarter

- True freshman receiver Zavier Betts caught a 45-yard touchdown pass in the second quarter to give Nebraska a 17-3 lead. The touchdown was the first of Betts' Nebraska career and came on his third career reception.

- Nebraska scored 10 points off turnovers in the first half of today's game, after also scoring 10 points off turnovers at Northwestern last week. This marks the first time Nebraska has scored 10+ points off turnovers in consecutive games since back-to-back games against Ohio State and Illinois in 2018

- Senior safety Marquel Dismuke made a career-high 15 tackles in the game, bettering his 10-tackle effort against Minnesota in 2019. Dismuke also tallied a TFL and one pass breakup.

- Senior linebacker JoJo Domann finished with a career-high 12 tackles, bettering his previous high of eight tackles at Purdue in 2019

- Senior placekicker Connor Culp connected on field goals of 22, 25 and 30 yards. He also made two field goals last week, marking the first time a Husker kicker has made multiple field goals in consecutive games since Barret Pickering made three field goals against Michigan State and two at Cockeye in the final two games of the 2018 season

- Junior tight end Austin Allen caught three passes for 39 yards. The three receptions were a career-high, bettering three previous games with two receptions each

- Nebraska utilized the West Sideline for its bench for today's game. It is believed to be the first time Nebraska has used the West Sideline since Coach Bob Devaney moved the Huskers to the East Sideline in his first season in 1962

Why did we use the West sidelines?
Best reason I've heard (and it's not an official reason), is that Frost has wanted to change sides for some time now because the cameras are always focused on the east sideline, making it easier for opposing coaches to have video to try to interpret/steal signals.
