1: It's fun to score points, isn't it? I can only imagine Satt sitting there going "Ohhhhhhh, now I see". I'm hoping we get an official announcement about Holgorsen like Sunday AM. Lock that man up for the next 3 years as soon as possible.

2: Easily Dylan's best game. IMO he had 3 TD passes. How many times have we dropped it when he put it on the money in the endzone? He never looked rattled and managed the game. The quick throws help.

3: We've done it two years in a row, but we like to wait until late to figure out that Emmett Johnson can play a little. Hopefully he gets Big 10 player of the week.

4: Ty Robinson was an animal. He was destroying the line. I think last night moved him up on draft boards.

5: Good thing Cockeye won't pass it much because literally the only thing teams need to do against us is throw long passes. I don't know if it's Butler or White but good gravy we give up the deep throws.

6: I see you Blye Hill. Dude was in on the fumble and some tackles.

7: Speaking of people named Hill, was Tommi at the game? Did anybody see him?

8: We got good blocking and tough catches out of the TE position once Fidone was shown the bench.

9: We found our kicker. Alvano might be watching a lot next year if he sticks around.

10: Prince, Shavers, Magahee..... that'll do boys.

11: Gifford, Singleton..... thanks. We'll call you if we need something. Make sure to turn in your stuff and good luck.

I'd also add that this was the best game by our offensive line in a long long time. The holes they were blowing open in the run game were huge and Dylan had all day to throw. Oregon struggled mightily against this defense. We carved them up like a Thanksgiving turkey.

Also the next person who tells me "Its not X's and O's its Jimmies and Joes" will get punched in the face. While there is a grain of truth in that statement it only applies if coaching on both sides is roughly equal. The stark contrast in what the offense looked like even last week and today vs the moribund shit show Scatterfield was running puts the lie to that "adage". Coaching really does matter. Not just for the scheme but in this instance it matters just for the confidence of the players. Raiola is the obvious main beneficiary of this but I think the whole offense has gained the main thing they were lacking which is a belief in what's being called.

It's also going to be very interesting to see what happens with Tony White/Butler. I'm of the opinion that in this case there can only be one. The disconnect with our secondary and the plays being called by Tony is killing our defense. We all like to make fun of Whiffard and I think the criticism is mostly fair, but I have to ask myself how a guy goes from a standout performer on defense last year to a straight up liability this year.

Special teams are still shaky at best beyond getting the long snapping fixed. Wisconsin had a lot of return yards. It was nice to see Barney get the long return though I would say that he was due. Right now I'd give Foley a C- at best.

I want to add.....

Was the Badgers fumble at the end of the first half about the absolute best example of complimentary football we've had in years?

Defense causes fumble and recovers. Offense makes a small gain to set up the FG attempt. Special teams converts the FG.

We manufacture 3 points out of thin air and send Wisconsin into their halftime saying "WTF?"

They need to make Alvano move on one way or another.

6: Blye was also the guy that got burned on the deep ball.

7: Tommi was in street clothes and was part of the senior day program. I think they have shut him down for the regular season. I don't know about a bowl game.

Maybe if you’re looking at the whole season, but C- is way too low for this particular game. Suddenly, we can’t miss a field goal. Boomchini is booming 50 yarders and pinning them on the 3. As you said, we even had a couple of good returns. The only possible negative on specials against Wisconsin was a long return or two. And those were only to about the 50. They didn’t get housed. “Shaky at best” is totally unfair.

I’d say B+ at worst and more likely an A- for special teams Saturday.

It’s still the jimmy’s and the joes. With talent all but equal, the coaching matters big time.

There’s a reason the top 10 teams in the country have, roughly the best 10-15 recruiting classes and why Army got their assets handed to them by superior talent. No matter of coaching at Army was going to change that.

In any one game series, can a coaching staff pull off an upset? Yes. For sustained success? No maintenance of coaching will do they without top talent. There’s evidence of they is everywhere in CF, every weekend.

I’m not diminishing coaching. But talent puts you at the top, with great coaching. Great coaching with sub-prime talent gets you an upset every once in a while.
