So I watched highlights for both, so I'm pretty much a Juan expert.

Anyway, let's start with Tyler Van Dyke.
-Definitely accurate and goes through reads at times.
-Likes his first option, which was Restrepo, and be willing to make a close accurate throw to him
-Not mobile at all, so let's just not include the option with him in. But can run if needed from the pocket.
-Hard to judge lines, but he had some time to throw. When he did, he made some accurate throws over 20-30 yards.
-Besides going through some simple reads, he does use his checkdown to his RB, something we could have needed this year.

Will Howard:
-Dual threat QB. With any dual threat QB, we gotta ask ourselves what we're putting them through with their running abilities. Can't risk to get him hurt because the OC runs him 10 times a game on designed runs.
-With that said, he is a smart runner. Will go for the first down and go out of bounds.
-Deadly moving in the pocket. Will step up or roll out and keep looking down field.
-Likes his first option to throw, but sometime will go through his reads, especially on the run.
-Seems to really adjust his throwing motion if he's throwing short passes over the middle versus throwing the ball to an open WR down the field. Hard to explain, but he adds that extra elevation to his pass to prevent batting down at the line.

Based off of what type of offense we run, Will Howard is the best option. If we want to have more of a pure pocket passer, Van Dyke is that guy. But without a legit throwing option like Restrepo, I really can't know how good of a QB he is.

Once again, this is based off of highlights. Would need to see every play to see what type of QB each is, which includes pre-snap reads and adjustments, plays that go wrong, and post-play speed.
