Agreed.🤣 So much for the fake moral outrage.
.
People act like golf is the only US entity doing business with the Saudis. Freaking ridiculous.

I haven’t seen anyone acting like that. It is one of the most blatant examples of “sportswashing” ever so yeah a lot of people didn’t like LIV.Agreed.

PGA dipshit rating: 💩💩They’re both dipshit organizations in their own ways.
I golf for the entertainment and only watch it when I’m at a bar drinking. This will never that.
I don’t blame the PGA for doing it, their hand was seemingly forced. DP world tour is tanking and also didn’t really have a choice. I blame Jay Monahan for being a total POS and I can’t fathom why he still has a job today. They’re both dipshit organizations in their own ways.

the PGA tour owns a 40% stake in the DP tour, so they have a lot of influence. what's crazy is the PGA tour was facing an anti-trust suit and is making it go away by forming a global monopolyI don’t blame the PGA for doing it, their hand was seemingly forced. It’s a very wild situation. We’ll see what the courts think of this monopolythe PGA tour owns a 40% stake in the DP tour, so they have a lot of influence. what's crazy is the PGA tour was facing an anti-trust suit and is making it go away by forming a global monopoly
Great! Any issues with the government selling weapons to the Saudis?I haven’t seen anyone acting like that. It is one of the most blatant examples of “sportswashing” ever so yeah a lot of people didn’t like LIV.

One of the most blatant examples of choosing what to be upset about. I absolutely am aware that it's "sportswashing", I'm just not going to be disingenuous about how I feel about it.
I would think the most "blatant" example of "sportswashing" would be the Saudi involvement in soccer; you know, the most popular sport in the world.
It's not "what-aboutism". It's an honest question.Yes
Way to answer the question for me.
Newcastle United is not as popular as the combined popularity of the LIV guys and no I don’t watch them. At least those are realistic business enterprises. Whereas LIV never had a chance to be profitable.
Nice whattaboutism tho
Lol this is 100% whattaboutism my guy. It's not "what-aboutism". It's an honest question.
I'm not sure how you would measure individual popularity of a golfer against a Premier League team. Most team sports do not consider themselves "fans" of other teams. People who follow golf can like or be fans of multiple players at the same time.
I don't watch soccer or Formula 1, but I understand their popularity globally and certainly don't downplay their significance.
I guess the point is that Saudi Arabia is a member of the UN and other global government partnerships. If governments can have economic relationships with them why can't private entities? Why isn't there as much outrage for governmental relations?
I feel for the PGL guys. The interview they did with NLU a year or two ago pre-LIV spelled out their vision and it would have worked IMOSaudi’s wanted a seat at the table and they used LIV to get there. They want global legitimacy and they want to diversify outside of oil. LIV was never going to work, it just had to work long enough to pin the Tour into a corner. And the tour now has a war chest and they still have majority control. If the DOJ allows it to happen it’s a pretty big win-win for both parties.
Frustratingly, this all stems from the PGA being stubborn/greedy about their 501c6 status. If Jay monahan wasnt an arrogant standoffish dick 4 years ago when the PGL told them to form a for-profit arm, they might not have needed to take Saudi money.
Fair, lil-buddy.Lol this is 100% whattaboutism my guy.
I don’t like Liv because I watch a lot of golf so it matters to me. LIV was never meant to be a real business. Looks at their contracts and their audience. It was always to “sportswash.” Investments in F1 and EPL team purchases at least on its face look like real businesses.
