Our New NIL Pool…

I’d be surprised if Emmett is back next year. Going to be hard to raise his stock anymore than he has this year and why risk an injury. Dean’s podcast said someone has him as the 8th back off the board right now.

That would majorly suck. Hope he sticks around next season. But I get it if he doesn't. He's improved so much this season. His vision, cutting, hitting the holes, etc. Still needs work in pass pro, but he can work on that. The kid has really showed his mettle as the season progresses.

No way he returns… I seriously would not chase any running backs and give all that NIL to offensive lineman. Unless the money is there to do both.

I’m not sure I’m ready to fire anyone after a patched together OL gave up one sack all night to a team that leads the conference in them that just so happened to get our QB hurt and EJ ran for like 160.

I was deathly afraid of the matchup of their pass rush vs our OL. I don’t know that they were bad tonight.

Got a lot of youth on the DL in RVP, the kid from ND who I can never spell his name, and Williams. I’d like to see us get a bit bigger up front so we aren’t getting pushed out of gaps in the run game.
JFC we have to throw out like 80% of the playbook when we get into conference play because our OL is so bad. Uncle Donny definitely needs to kick rocks.

This has been our narrative for 10 years. “We have the skill positions we just need to focus on the trenches and coach XYZ finally realizes this to be good in the big 10.”

We ran the ball well. Only gave up one sack. I feel like this wasn’t on the OL although I agree the whole offense seems disjointed at times. They operate like half the pieces are new to the team.. because they are.

We brought in .. 3? On the DL? 2 on the OL? What are your ideal numbers? We still need to recruit and develop

I think we sell ourselves on skill guys since maybe Stanley Morgan, JD, and Devine? I get a text from a guy whose opinion I heavily respect every season at about game 4 that says “we don’t have the dudes”.

I believe that Jacory, Hunter, Key, Luke, Bonner when he was healthy, EJ are all legitimate weapons. I don’t think we’ve been this deep in skill in a long time…young guys like Cortez, Quinn will keep developing and grow into filling holes as people graduate

I think we are always one injury away on the OL from it being really bad, and our DL clearly doesn’t have the ability to make running the ball difficult.

I’m saying, not just TAKING guys from the portal, but getting top talent on our lines out of the portal. Spindler and Pritch were great to get - we need 2 more big time, legit, OL gets after Spindler graduates this year would be a big improvement.

But - yes I agree - we have to be able to recruit and develop to sustain. But I’d love to see us inject top talent, and have the year and a half to really accomplish that development

When you watch lines with teams like Michigan, USC as well as all their positions you can quickly see we have a talent gap issue at a lot of positions. Rhule is building it up but it’s slow. We do not have their depth either.

I still feel very strongly that they have to cut a lot of the rFr and SO class after this season and replace with high NIL and hs recruits. 1890 would need to come up with an additional $10mm+ for the 2026 hs and upcoming transfer class in addition to what we’ve committed to the current roster.

This should’ve already happened when they landed Riola as we aren’t going to land QBs like that very often if ever. We needed to go all in on the roster but the boosters didn’t. If they can’t see we need a lot more in the way of talent acquisition then they’re retarded.
