Other games 2025

It’s a tournament. The season is a tournament that feeds into the final tournament. All data points matter. Saying a team that was a borderline playoff team, and according to the committee the fifth best team in the conference, gets to stay in when they just got ass raped ignores key data points. In reality it should have been an elimination game for them. Let someone else get a chance in the tournament who hasn’t lost to FSU or just got worked by 21 points.

Alabama just told us they aren’t one of the best teams in the country, let’s take them for their word and see what someone else can do.

I know that wins in the SEC just mean more… and the losses don’t count.
Yep. The idea that the CCG shouldn't hurt you is stupid.

And if anyone believed it, Indiana and tOSU would be resting their starters tonight.

It is ironic watching all the Bama fans argued that it being a ccg didn’t mean anything for SMU last year but it does this year I agree. My problem would be if they switched up their logic year to year and the same team on the wrong side of it it’s pretty fucked.

Yep - had it been a close game then yeah keep bama in, but they showed they don’t belong and this blowout nullified their earlier season W against Georgia

Here’s how to fix this shit.

Go to 16 teams. I was initially opposed to 16 teams, but with conference expansion, not enough of the top teams are playing in each other in the regular season. See stupid ACC tie breakers, A&M not playing any teams in top half of the SEC until Black Friday, etc etc. I think 16 is warranted.

Auto bids:

B1G: 4
SEC: 4
Big 12: 2
ACC: 2
At large: 4

Conferences can decide their bids however they want. If I am B1G or SEC,
I let my #1 and #2 take this weekend off. 3 vs. 6 and 4 vs. 5 for the last two auto bids. Losers still eligible for at large. Guess you could still play the CCG if you want.

Big 12 and ACC similar - regular season champ takes the week off, play 2 vs. 3 for the other bid.

G5 gets a bid if they are in the top 16.

It’s perfect.

I agree* with the opinion that the logic shouldn’t unfairly change. I disagree a 21 point loss is the same as SMU losing on a last second 60 yard FG.

* not to say that dumb criteria for decision making shouldn’t be questioned and change in the future.

Take for example the committee saying that the reason they jumped Alabama over ND last week after beating a bowless Auburn. They stated a “gutsy” 4th down conversion and having at one point held a 17 point lead. How is this reasonable? Or even intelligent? Losing a 17 point lead doesn’t matter? Why does converting a 4th down matter? Is that to say that had they gotten the TD on 3rd down that it would have been less impressive?

I am personally of the opinion the “eye test” should be 0 percent of their evaluation.

I would rather go back to 4.

But 16 is better than 12. The bye week is actually a disadvantage. Your auto bids I'm here for.

What I would probably do is have the CCG week be a battle for auto bids. 1 v 8, 2 v 7, 3 v 6, 4 v 5. Winners get the bid.

Worst case if your 1 loses to your 8, you get an auto bid and your 1 will likely be an at large.

To me going back to 4 is untenable for the super conference reason I talked about. Not enough of the top teams play in conference anymore.

Do you actually think they’re getting left out? You’re crazy. I seriously doubt it.

Yes, more than likely the gumps are getting sent to some worthless shit stick bowl game that matters less than doge coin on a busted hard drive. Nothing to get emotional about.
