I just don’t know anyone who really thinks it’s a rivalry. We are more like business partners than rivals.
And I’ve certainly never seen any member from either fanbase act like it offline.
I actually think it is. I never believed Wisconsin was because they smoked us every year. The Cockeye games have always been hard fought games and up until we fired Pelini we had their number. There were years we couldn’t beat OU and we considered that one of the greatest rivalries.
The results aren’t what make it a rivalry
We just don’t have one since leaving the big 12 IMO

Cockeye has their own actual rivalries (isu, Minn). Not sure we would be considered more of a rival than those 2 by any Cockeye fan.
I suppose this last point isn’t all that different than OU, which probably would rank okst and Texas above us in terms of rivals
Cockeye state kept them outta the playoff which has got to sting for them
Ask an Cockeye fan who they would rather beat. Im guessing Nebraska and ISU are at the top of their list. It seems like Cockeye gets as much satisfaction out of beating NU as any other team, but I could be wrong.
lol go check out their message boards. Always have several threads about NU. Hell, they were obsessed with us back when Nebraska was in the big 8/12
I feel like the stadiums for this game are always empty, likely due to the holiday timing? Maybe. I don’t know. Always low energy. I like the description of business partners

Western Iowans obsess over Nebraska. Eastern Iowans don’t care near as much.

I’ve been asking this question for going on 5 years now. Have never heard a single “yes”.
Many more report joint watch parties than anything close to real world (ie not on message boards) hate

Guarantee somebody on here has. Hell bill Callahan almost fought OU fans himself.
Same with CU and mizzou.

There have been countless brawls with opposing fanbases
Just none with Cockeye because nobody cares that much about our annual “cash those checks!” friendly
