Youngest daughter got into an accident today. She is okay (shaken up). Totaled her Grandma's 2002 Imapala (Grandma passed in 2010). Car was very sentimental but time to find a new one. Impala barely had 70K on it, so it's a shame to lose it.

Anyone in the Omaha/Lincoln area know of a good used car? Daughter will be going back to UNL this fall.

car purchased today...2017 Ford Escape SE 60k miles. The pic is not the car we purchased but IS what it will look like once the wheels and tires are swapped from a different Escape on the lot. The original wheels had gouges and the coating was flaking off so we dealed and got a wheel and tire swap.

Nice! We had an escape before our explorer and it was a great car

We were down to this or Equinox last summer. Ended up with Equinox. Basically same thing. Perfect for teenage girls.

Have a friend who traded in his 2002 Ford Escape this year, with over 250K on it. He never had to have a whole lot of repair work done it during that time. either .. pretty miraculous really and never knew that Fords were that well built ..

Got lucky and got both of my daughters 2019 Hyundai Accents from Hertz when they were having to sell off part of their fleet due to Covid. Both were less than 30k in miles and 3k under blue book. Won't get that lucky with our son in a Co ole of years. Great cars for them and you can't Beta the 10 year warranty.

I’ve bought four vehicles off the manheim auction sold through rental companies and they all have been good vehicles.

how do you get a manheim permit? or do you need one? open to the public?
You need to be a car dealer technically. The last time i knew it was 500 bucks a year to renew. We really don’t sell cars. We use it to get vehicles cheaper for our primary business. It’s usually 3-5k cheaper than buying through a dealer. I will say there are times if you’re looking at a one year old vehicle compared to brand new, it can be better to buy new with all the rebates. The best thing about manheim is they do vehicle inspections and will show anything to the smallest scratch, so there are no surprises. They have vehicle auction sites across the country, so we buy most online. There is an auction site right when you come to Omaha on the west side of town. They run cars there every Thursday if I remember correctly.

I've narrow down Jim's house to one of four, if you know a guy who can grind off vin numbers i can meet you sometime next week to "shop" for a used car if you catch my drift
My Yukon is parked outside. It has that anti theft GPS so might stop running. Would have a backup plan.
