I always recommend to parents who have kids with crippling ipad addictions that if they just get their kid hooked on some hard drugs, the iPad doesn't seem so bad

Huge for my wife and baby seeing their grandparents cuz we live so far away

Not to mention my wife’s extended family that lives in the UK, Africa and India.

There are plenty of great tablet options that aren't cRapple. Samsung makes some nice, less expensive, tablets. So do other companies.

Facetime is over rated. Skype? Other video chat apps? Olds can't figure out how to click on an app icon to open it? cRapple has so many so snowed on their products IMHO.

I am past the tablet stage, used to use Asus transformer tablets with the detachable keyboard. They were really nice at the time (has to have been 6 years ago if not longer since they made them). My phone screen is large enough now that I don't need a 10"+ tablet display.
