Old lady wants an iPad for Christmas. I'm not trying to spend a thousand bucks for the latest and greatest when I know she'll only use it for a few months and/or my one year old destroys the goddamn thing. Has anybody ever bought a refurbished or 'renewed' as they label them on Amazon?

There’s nothing wrong with buying a refurbished electronic device
I buy those all the time & never had an issue
I also never buy the most current generation, usually 1-2 generations older

I'm sure you would be fine as long as the reseller is credible. New Ipads are actually in very high demand due to the chip shortage.

1. Porn
2. Facetiming my parents

Usually not at the same time.

Honestly, be careful going this route. I got a really cheap one of those after I left my last iPad on an airplane (interestingly was never found by the cleaning crew...hmm). It was a complete piece of shit that was loaded with spamware and barely even functioned as an internet browser.

Maybe I got the wrong one or they've improved a lot in the past 4 years, but even at like $80 it was overpriced.

Huge for my wife and baby seeing their grandparents cuz we live so far away

Recent IPad story….my 5 year old first cracked the corner of my iPad Pro, then dropped it again and shattered the entire screen. And, finally decided to eat a shit ton of donuts one morning and proceeded to puke all over it as a final nail in the coffin. 🤷🏼‍♂️

Trust me, we have tried other video call apps and the olds can never figure them out.

Same, we only do it for FaceTiming the grandparents, cousins, etc.


The closest relatives we have to us are 4 hours away.


We bought the highest end one last year and my son threw it down the stairs and broke it 2 months later. Hell of an arm on the kid tho
