OT: Favorite & Weirdest Parts About Being a Parent

Always fun when they start do say hilarious things that you don't expect.

Weirdest is really just all the random shit you have to do that you'd never think about before you have kids. Like "oh yeah toddlers just wake up in the morning sometimes, take their jammies and diaper off, and stomp around in their shit diaper without making a sound". Of course this was a scenario I planned for

Weirdest thing is how 3 kids with the same genetics raised in the same house can be completely different people.

Favorite is seeing them truly happy/success.

Least favorite seeing them sad/have problems.
wHen your grand baby AI’s their first sow it’s a beauty to behold Jim toot

That's no shit. You think...now that the kids are in school I won't have daycare and save some money. Thousands start falling out of your pocket and you don't even know where.
Then they graduate and move off to college...stacks of cash just shooting out the door. Cars, insurance, cell phones, school...woof.

Favorite part, watching them grow into the women they are and knowing I had a part in it.

Wierdest part, knowing I had a part in it.

Being a parent is crazy man...while my daughters are 24 and 21, I still see them as the little girls that would do crazy shit to make me laugh, awesome shit to make me proud, or dumb shit to piss me off. Everything they do has a little bit of me or their mom in it. We are completely proud of the young women they have become (Allison 24, Emily 21) and are excited to see what their future holds.

do you worry about them bringing home a dipshit?

Favorite part: watching them get out of their comfort zones and grow. My 11 year old son is a great kid but tends to be a bit shy. Watching him grow and push himself to be more outgoing has been one of the coolest things I’ve seen in my 37 years here on earth. Also, seeing my 9 year old daughter overcome a reading gap (likely do to Covid distance learning in 1st and half of 2nd grade) through hard work was equally as cool to see.

Weirdest part: knowing that my son, at 11, is already faster than me due to him playing soccer and doing track just pisses me off.

13, 5 (6 in 2 weeks), and 3 all boys and daughter due Aug 20th.

Favorite parts
Wrestling and general roughhousing with them. The 3 year is a freaking tank, just solid and strong. He's going to be our MLB and wrestler for sure. I wrestle with the 5 and 3 year old daily, sometimes multiple times a day. It gets pretty intense when all 4 of us get going and it's them vs me.

Putting them to bed nightly. They all have had a LeapFrog Scout which plays bedtime music. For the last 10 years and for the next 7 or so years I'll have listened to that same bedtime music pretty much nightly. It's total comfort and safety for me and the boys. I'm honestly going to miss that.

Weirdest
Their infatuation with their balls, penis, and dancing naked in front of the mirror. Once they discovered it becomes bigger and harder, I knew I was screwed.

My kids are 7, 5, and 3 (#4 due soon).

When I tuck them in and give them a hug, a lot of times they'll grab my neck and not let go. Often I have to tickle my way out.

Weirdest part: you see a LOT more toddler anus than anyone prepares you for.
Ya, my 3y/o gets down on all fours with his little butt pointed skyward when he's done pooping and ready to get wiped. Normal.

My 2 year old (3 next month) has a new catchphrase every week, and they usually make me laugh. Right now whenever he says goodbye to someone, he tells them "don't worry about my _______!" and just inserts the name of whatever object he happens to see. "Don't worry about my applesauce, daddy! Bye!"

I'd say the coolest part so far has just been watching him develop interests and get better at things. We just got him some puzzles and he absolutely loves them. Of course when he started he had no idea what to do because he'd only ever done block/shape puzzles, so he was just trying to jam every piece together. Now two days later I can watch him look at a piece and rotate it so that it lines up and connects. He's also really gotten into building things with magna tiles and duplos, so we're going to get him some more stuff like that for his bday and try to encourage that development.

Worst part so far is dealing with the random toddler meltdowns. This morning he was in a great mood and then all of the sudden he didn't want my wife to hand me a ziplock bag to put his baby brother's bottles in. Of course she still handed it to me and he lost it crying as if we'd just killed his pet. Then three minutes later he's fine.
