So we all know the officiating in this league is hot garbage. Every other fan base knows it. The coaches all know it.

Is there going to be any pressure in the offseason to use some of this war chest of money coming into the league to at least somewhat professionalize the officiating crews?

You can't have a league with schools making millions of dollars in commitments to coaches' salaries, along with whatever investments are being made in players, that are subject to the whims of an insurance salesman who didn't get a good night sleep at his Motel 6, and where the only recourse for game-deciding errors is a written apology from league HQ.

If you are trying to fill a niche as "Pro Football Junior," you are going to have to take officiating seriously. It's depreciating the value of the entire product.

After watching the Iron Bowl today which was officiated worse than any of our games this year, maybe reffing is just really hard.

Is there any fan of any league that says, “Ya know, at least our refs are really good - no issues there!”?

I think that's true, but I also think that people are generally ok with NFL refs. I realize we can't expect that quality, but something between that and "not recognizing that the clock didn't run in the final 90 seconds of a game" seems achievable.

lol yeah that clock mishap was bad

It's a product of fast tracking and hiring based on demographics.

Look up LaShell Nelson and her officiating experience before getting hired as a college official and as a Ben Ten official. She did one varsity high school game and was a JV high school official the went straight to Conference USA for a year then BIG Ten.

She was primary official responsible for the clock Cockeye game.

Remember Cam Taylor-Britt's bone head play that resulted in safety at Illinois in 21? It wasn't a safety and she was the official on that as well.
