Teru is off to a good start while all of the other upper-echelon finish struggled, with the exception of Mitakeumi and Hoshoryu. Not looking good for Takakeisho and his had neck. Likely will be looking at demotion if he cannot perform much better than today. Wakatakakage took it to Takayasu in dominant fashion. The early storyline appears to be that the youngsters are looking to unseat the vets. 14 more days to go to see if they succeed.

Day 2 highlights:
Teru takes down a very game Hoshoryu, and they are now 2-0 and 1-1, respectively.
Takakeisho falls again, and it looks like he will have a tough time getting his kachikoshi as all of the bigger names still to come. Demotion awaits.
Shodai has a big bounce-back win vs Takayasu who doesn't look 100%. They are 1-1 and 0-2 respectively.
Both Sekiwake fall as Hokutofuji takes down Mitakeumi.

Wanted to get my daily update in before @ThomOsborneMD could. It's early, but already two of the top threats to Teru are well off pace... Takakeisho and Takayasu now sit at 0-3. Takakeisho will have to soldier on to try and keep his Ozeki status, but things look bleak. Takayasu is likely to stay in as well, but looks as though he isn't 100%. Hoshoryu is battling all the top dogs this tourney as a Magashira 1, and after a nice win in day 1, he has struggled to get his grip the passed 2 days. Shodai is now 2-1 after a rough day 1, but with his inconsistency it's hard to know how long he will be in the mix. Teru is dominating his opponents, and unless he gets injured, it seems unlikely he'll be challenged for the title.

I apologize for being a little late today. I'm sure you've all been on pins and needles and have likely already watched the recap on Youtube..
Anyway... Teru moved to 4-0. Takakeisho picked up a win to move to 1-3. Takayasu may how out after falling to 0-4 with the top guys still to come. Shodai at 3-1 after another win. Nobody looking at the level of Teru although it is still early.
Stay tuned!

Came here to crap on the thread, started watching video, was completely lost and yet couldn't turn away...can't entirely tell for sure, but I may now be a Japanese fat guy wrestling fan. Will admit, I think this would be better with a turn buckle.

Things are starting to get interesting at the Kokugikan! Teru had a battle today from Kiribayama, who has looked fantastic through 5 days. However, the Yokozuna proved too crafty and strong today. They are 5-0 and 4-1 respectively. Takakeisho has suddenly turned it on to get 2 wins in a row. Shodai has found his form and blew through Wakatakakage. Hoshoryu was forced to pull out with tonsillitis, so Takayasu picked up his first win with a freebie. Mitakeumi moved to 4-1 with a win over veteran Tamawashi, but he really hasn't looked good. 1\3 of the way through, and everyone is chasing Teru, but all of his big matches are backloaded, and will come on the last few days. We'll see if he falters before then to make things interesting.

Not gonna lie. Watched all of the first one.

Day 6 is in the books! Both Ozeki fell today, which puts them at 4-2 (Shodai) and 2-4 (Takakeisho). Neither is really up to Ozeki Standards at this point in the basho. On the other hand, Terunofuji continues to be solid and now sits at 6-0. Mitakeumi has been far more aggressive so far, and sits 5-1. Fellow sekiwake Meisei is 2-4, and looks unready for that rank. Takayasu very well may pull out as he is now 1-5 with his only victory being a freebie after another wrestler withdrew.
It looks as though there are only a couple of guys able to challenge for the Yusho right now, but with 9 days left, it's still anyone's to take!
