I would argue the two most important things in the NFL are front office and coach...since everyone has roughly the same budget, player eval and coaching become the only differentiators.

Absolutely. And not just physical evaluation. Athletically the teams are as equal as they can be. It's the mental makeup that separates them.
 
Lions are probably gonna miss the playoffs. Their defense took a step back this year.
