Official 2025 Nebraska Cardiac Beaver Slayers Baseball Thread (7-10) - We suck again

Incredible

Im gonna keep posting about this because it’s awesome, but playing a game with a unique backdrop is really cool.

We used to play Rutgers-Camden for our first game every year in college, and they used to play in a stadium right on the riverfront with the Ben Franklin bridge directly behind the outfield wall. From the field it looked absolutely massive and looked close enough that you could hit a ball onto it (even though it was probably 1,000 feet away to the base).

Unfortunately they tore the stadium down, but the school rebuilt a baseball field in the same spot.

Reminds me of Omaha Central's old field underneath the bridge by a Salvation Army. I'm drawing a blank on the name, damn it was a POS.

Spring 1990, Kimera Bartee (RIP) hit a ball so far off of me I didn't even look. It's likely still traveling 35 years later. Next AB, fucker drags and is on 3B 2 pitches later. Pretty sure I tried to pick him 10-12 times at 1st & 2nd. 😂

There had to of been 30-40 MLB scouts at that game for him. Super cool to experience. Bartee, Strickland & Scott Bream are the best players I've ever played against. Incredible talents.

Was that field astroturf?

Huskers go down on 3 strike outs

First strike out was Overbeek on an 11 pitch AB - not concerned on this one.

Second one was 7 pitches to Buttenbaugh

Third was 6 pitches to Braumbaugh

Lots of contact in the top half.

Another 7+ pitch Ab From a Husker hitter ends it a liner to second.

Bolin deserved a hit there. Unfortunately that’s not how baseball works. Carey to third.

Huskers taking more pitches today. Not getting fooled on offspeed and a lot more of them are aimed towards the opposite field.

Jesske flies out on the first pitch to end the Husker half of the 3rd.

Huskers are 2-4 with RISP.

Quite a bit of hard contact and a lot of guys working deep into counts. Stump is over 70 pitches through 3 innings.

There's undoubtably a different approach being employed by the Husker hitters today.

Brockett has done a great job pitching around runners today. Hes induced two double plays and has given up only one hit which is the only ball that has left the infield.

Bolin seems to have improved at the plate since the start of the year

Frost smoked the ball right to 2B - out
Carey hit the ball sharply to SS - Only reason this wasn't a hit was because Cholowsky has a big league arm.
Bolin walks (Quietly a very solid series from him)
Stokes puts a charge in one into the outfield; but a fairly routine play made by the CF to retire the side.

Right after I say something about Cholowsky from UCLA having a big league arm, he hammers a ball out of here.

He ambushed Brockett as Brockett had been fastball heavy on first pitches this outing. You don't get many that you throw there back.
