Official 2025 Nebraska Cardiac Beaver Slayers Baseball Thread - (26-26)

Indiana got in last year with a 55 RPI and 33-26-1 record as a 3 seed

I assume we will have to get pretty far into the Big 10 tourney to get our RPI close to that

its win the tourney or season over. Last years field was down compared to this year.

Michigan is 32-19 with an RPI in the 50's right now and being told they ain't getting in at the moment.

I guess we will have to win the whole thing damn thing

Is that ruling official?

Guys that would qualify are Beek, Stone, Frost, Silva, Stokes & Daiss.

IMO, with the season we had - move on from the above.
What was the story with the recruitment of AJ Evasco? Saw him as a freshman in High School and thought he should have been a priority for Nebraska

I misread your post. Thought you were saying he would compete with Beek for the job at 3b implying Beek was coming back.

Sorry about that.

There was chatter of the JUCO seniors returning, but it looks like this recent addition puts that to rest - or at least Beek and Stokes.

JCCC best pitcher got cut from Nebraska soooooooooooooo

Sounds like their staff actually knows how to develop pitching. It's a crazy concept, I know.

There was an injury and sickness that played a part in Nebraska releasing him. He had a chance to return last summer but, IIRC, his strength was behind schedule. HB knows the details better than me, I'm going off of a distant memory.

HB has a point though. And KJCCC isn't what it was a few years back.

Harvell was all over him his freshmen & sophomore year. Kept telling him they need to see his power and they'll pull the trigger.

Kansas State jumped in the summer going in to his junior year, he committed and the rest is history.

I defend the staff a lot regarding their in-state recruiting, but they definitely missed on Evasco. At least so far it's a miss. And to be honest, would he get the chance over Frost, Sanderson, Buettenback & Stone in Lincoln like he's gotten in Manhattan? I don't think so. By all accounts, a great kid (family are/were huge Husker fans) and I believe he won't return unless it's a new staff. I don't get it either, Harvell & Bolt were upfront with him and his family. There shouldn't be any animosity as far as I'm concerned.

There are others on here that know the Evasco's, so they can weigh in. I'm repeating what multiple coaches of his, and our staff, have shared with me during his recruitment.

If he REALLY wanted to be at Nebraska, He would be at Nebraska. Could have flipped anytime he wanted Junior Summer and Senior year. Recruiting is a two way street. The coaching staff has to want you and the player has to want to be there.

Totally agree go where you are wanted most and it has worked out for him. Looks like they will be in the NCAA tourney.
