Broderick is just not effective when throwing 90% sliders. Seems like every hit his given up has been on the slider that’s supposed to be his out-pitch.

Knee jerk assessment of Childress so far is that he’s done well bringing in talent but the development and role placement has been subpar.

Am I off-base?

What talent equals him doing well? Horn, Encarnacion, Nowaczyk, Cleavinger (recruited by Christy then chose Tulane then portal when Childress was named PC) & Broderick isn't who I'd hang my hat on with Childress' pedigree. To be blunt, it's embarrassing what he hasn't done recruiting enough quality arms to Lincoln.

McConnaughey? Debatable on who. Jeff was recruiting him and he commits a day after Sirianni and Childress being named to the staff. We can give him Mac, doesn't really matter.

Christy brought in a 3rd rounder (Povich), 4th rounder (Olson), 7th rounder (Sears), 10th round (Kaminska) & a 20th rounder (Wynne).

Other guys currently on the roster and committed to/under Christy
Walsh, Christo, Brockett, Daiss, Worthley, Clark, Timmerman, Harrahill, Jasa, & Unger.

Blachowicz was going wherever Sirianni went, regardless of who the PC is.

Do I think Christy is the better PC? No, I believe Rob is a top 2-3 PC in the college game. But one has to wonder where his heart & mind actually are, when looking at the results of our pitching staffs over the last 5 seasons between 2 different PC's.

Personally, I expected way better, and I venture to guess so did many others...

My talent comment was more geared towards upside which is why I split it off from development. I think we can all see the vision of a bunch of the guys that have thrown lately (especially some of the freshman), it just hasn’t materialized into a plus rotation and bullpen like we thought it would.

I don’t need extended data to tell me our bullpen has sucked and has been one of the reasons we can’t hold onto games like today. Compound that with some odd decisions with who to go with and it’s really odd to me.

It’s almost like Childress sees this as more of a hobby than actual business

A 7/10 who gives 100% is equal to a 9/10 who gives 80%.

Give me passion and brains and work ethic over experience.
