Official 2024 Other Games Thread

The worst part of streaming is you cable people are a minute ahead of me.

I just got my Dish going again after 8 months of non-use. I have been working out of state much of the year (4.5 months) and was streaming on my laptop while out of state. Once I got back home in late May, I just never used Dish, used my Nvidia shield and all it's streaming options, which often is superior for everything but sports. The dog days of summer for sports is now over with CFB back on, so watching games on Dish now. Stupid Dish receiver took about half an hour to boot up, probably because I hadn't used it for so long, and none of my Dish remotes worked with the receiver anymore, no idea why.

Got the remotes working now, as for CFB and sports, Dish is superior to streaming, especially since I have slow internet (no wired internet available at my house in the mountains here in MT, only TMobile 5G home internet). Also can DVR Husker games on Dish, something I can't really do on streaming since I use my Dish login for all my streaming apps, which none have DVR capability.

But got dayum, Dish is pricey. I do get to use the streaming options with my Dish login, so that makes up for most of it, but still, once I move out of this house (house soon to be on the market and I may be moving out of MT), I think I will be done with Dish for good. If I move, it will be to a place that has fast internet and YTTV or HULU live or similar will likely be what I go with. But for sports, still hard to beat Dish. Streaming is always suspect for sports, even with fast internet. I don't trust streaming Husker games as one never knows when streams lag or drop, etc.

These early televised games have lacked any semblance of cohesive offense. WVU v PSU looks to be headed towards a scoreless first marred by sloppy play, as does Georgia v Clemson who both look solid on D as expected. On the other hand, Cockeye is bucking the trend, leading an offensive explosion with their three-point 1Q outburst against Illinois State.
