Offense vs. P4

Offense 38th
Defense 14th
Special teams 81st

I'd probably rank special teams higher than offense and defense per eyeball test.
Honestly I don't give a shit about rankings. We won a game in large part because of superior special teams play. When is the last time that happened for us? When Bo was coach? Probably. It's only a matter of time until Barney gets one or more to the house. It's going to happen. Something we haven't had since DPE was returning punts.

It was great to finally win that way, and maybe this game ends up being a watershed moment of embracing how to win in the B10? I'm hoping that's the case.

My only trepidation is if we don't improve on 322ypg and 4.7ypp (I think we all agree this offense has more potential than those numbers), then we need to keep playing great special teams, keep building on turnover margin, and keep winning field position to maintain 28ppg in conference play. 28ppg can win 9-10 games if the defense keeps their powder dry. But specials, TO margin, and field position are all things we haven’t done well over the course of a season in a long time. So I'd rather just see the offense reach their potential than rely on something we haven't been able to rely on.

Ideally, I'd prefer the offense reach their potential and everything else click and then you win 10-11 games.

We shouldn’t have blocked that punt for a touchdown. Now our stats suck
As someone who grew up a stats & box score nerd, it was always crazy to me how having big special teams plays or interceptions absolutely decimated the offensive stats.

Team would score 50+, and not put up as good of numbers as a 31 point ball control, drive the long field, grind it out win.

I am just hoping the wind stops blowing across the B1G in Oct and Nov

hard to throw throw throw in those kinds of conditions

What's funny is we still had 13 drives on Saturday (including the kneel down drive). We didn't have 13 drives in one game last year. we've done it twice this year already.

It's clear we have only a very small shot at the playoffs. We are probably middle of the pack in terms of overall team strength in the B1G. The most encouraging part is this team doesn't quit. They keep on fighting and don't just throw up their hands like all of Frosty's teams did the first time they got punched in the mouth.
