That's just it. I love everything that's been said previously about how good this staff is at recruiting. But man....2027 means nothing at this point, if we have to go through 6-10 more "team" losses this season and the gauntlet next year before that class signs. Because the fan base will shit the pants before then, and the administration will be under immense pressure by the time we are done with all those losses.

There was a time when we could accept losses as long as the program trajectory was right. But I think those days are gone now. Immediate success expectations will crumble a foundation that has momentum. If we don't make some hard decisions on some current player in the trenches and upgrade them immediately, I'm not confident this 2027 class sticks around to come to fruitrition.

To me it comes down to how we do in the portal this year. If we continue to flip the roster and can add quality contributors then I’m good riding it out, even if there are bumps in the road. If we whiff on the interior again, then I think my opinion will change.

At the end of the day, what’s the alternative? Fire Rhule and then go through another 3-4 year rebuild? I’d rather keep on the same path if there is momentum, even if some fans are pissed about on field results.

Exactly. Burning it down is the absolute worst decision we can make, because people want to play the coaching gamble game. But I'm not confident cooler heads will prevail.

We can win the next 3 games + a bowl, or we can lose the next 3 games + a bowl. Odds are pretty good we’ll win AT LEAST 1 of the next 3 so go 1/3, then probably win the bowl game.

Next year without any portal additions we probably are looking at 7-9 wins before the bowl game. I’m assuming we will be one of the biggest players in raiding rosters and going BIG in the portal 💰 💰 💰. Under NO circumstance is Rhule gone after next year with any record that is 6-6 or better.

Also Rhule wouldn’t have signed his extension unless he got his needed NIL commitments in place for this portal season and for years to come IMO.
