To me it comes down to how we do in the portal this year. If we continue to flip the roster and can add quality contributors then I’m good riding it out, even if there are bumps in the road. If we whiff on the interior again, then I think my opinion will change. That's just it. I love everything that's been said previously about how good this staff is at recruiting. But man....2027 means nothing at this point, if we have to go through 6-10 more "team" losses this season and the gauntlet next year before that class signs. Because the fan base will shit the pants before then, and the administration will be under immense pressure by the time we are done with all those losses.
There was a time when we could accept losses as long as the program trajectory was right. But I think those days are gone now. Immediate success expectations will crumble a foundation that has momentum. If we don't make some hard decisions on some current player in the trenches and upgrade them immediately, I'm not confident this 2027 class sticks around to come to fruitrition.
At the end of the day, what’s the alternative? Fire Rhule and then go through another 3-4 year rebuild? I’d rather keep on the same path if there is momentum, even if some fans are pissed about on field results.
