Some speculation from McKewon about a couple potential RB coaches from the NFL ranks:

Sounds like Pitre may be more likely but man it’d be awesome to land Polamalu. He would be an absolute home run hire.

In hindsight, the RB coach being from the NFL makes sense with the delay in the hiring announcement. If it was a guy like Applewhite there wouldn’t be any reason to wait this long to announce.

What about Jeff Nixon? They are retooling on offense in Carolina

And his son plays for Nebraska
I thought about him too. There was a report today that Matt Rhule is not being fired so I assumed Nixon would stay on staff, but if he’s let go he’d be a great candidate.

Pretty sure both of those dudes need jobs as of this morning...

Have to admit Michael Pitre does nothing for me. But what do I know? (the answer is nothing, I know nothing)

Haha I'm the same way. I don't even know why I bother looking at assistant coach candidates. So much of their success/failure rate has to do with where they've worked, HCs/coordinators they've worked for, players they've worked with, etc. I have no idea how to evaluate anybody at that level.

Pitre was obviously good enough to be noticed by Mike Zimmer, who I think is a very respectable football mind. Does he have the recruiting chops? He was recruiting coordinator at Oregon St from what I can find on the google machine, he wasn't canned from Oregon State but took the chance to go to the NFL. So maybe he'd be a good hire, maybe not. But it's a crapshoot anyways, so why not? Lol see now I've talked myself into him. It was that easy. The joys of being a fan, you can talk yourself into anything being a positive for your team when it's the offseason.

We need someone who can actually coach and teach our RBs, and if Pitre was able to get an NFL job then I imagine he can coach.

Obviously we need a RB coach who can recruit as well, and given that he was a recruiting coordinator, I assume he's gotta be somewhat decent on the trail.

I would be more than happy with Pitre.

Hahah amen!

Apparently Polamalu is NPG's uncle? And he has a niece on the softball team.
