4th and 1 from your own 19 with 10 minutes to go in the 3rd was a good callChargers fans need to drag that coach out to sea and keel haul his ass for the stupidest time out in the history of coaching. He totally cost his team a spot in the playoffs. Dumb, dumb, dumb.
Agreed. Shades of Bill Callahan vs. Auburn with that call. I may have been yelling at my screen during that play ...4th and 1 from your own 19 with 10 minutes to go in the 3rd was a good call
Analytically yes it was...4th and 1 from your own 19 with 10 minutes to go in the 3rd was a good call
Wasn't there like 5 seconds on the play clock?Chargers fans need to drag that coach out to sea and keel haul his ass for the stupidest time out in the history of coaching. He totally cost his team a spot in the playoffs. Dumb, dumb, dumb.

A few more than that (maybe 27 seconds), but it was stupid. You could tell from the play calls on the Raiders sideline that they wanted to burn clock and be done with the game. Perhaps their coach wanted a different opponent than they would have played had the game ended in a tie. We'll likely never really know what he was thinking as I doubt he lays it all out there during the post-game presser.Wasn't there like 5 seconds on the play clock?
If he was trying to stop the clock wouldn't you do it earlier in the play clock?
I know... I'm a believer you have to use analytics but also blend in some common sense. These stats ignore situation awareness. They had just gotten completely stoned on 3rd down, and essentially tried the same play ... with identical results. Oh, and BTW - they were at their own 18 fucking yard line!
I'm a believer in the idea that shitty analytics are no better than no analyticsI know... I'm a believer you have to use analytics but also blend in some common sense.
