New commuter car recs

Mind if I tag onto this thread with my own question? Could just make it a car recs thread?

We’ve outgrown the minivan and I’m looking into getting a Suburban, Tahoe, or similarly sized vehicle for the wife.

Not really wanting to drop $80k right now so I’m looking for something a couple years old in the $50k range. I’d prefer rolling the dice with something in the $25k-$35k range but the wife disagrees.

So my question is, anyone have experience with the Suburban, Yukon, Yukon XL, Tahoe, Expedition, or Expedition MAX the previous few years in terms of reliability? Certain engine configurations that suck?

4x4 and seating for 7+ is a must.

Wife will be pleased so I’ll be bumping the ding thread shortly after I buy it.
Kenyan, do NOT do a tahoe.

We had one for a long time with our 2 littles. When you fill it up with people, there's no room for cargo/storage. The Suburban is far better because of the full cargo area in the rear with the same seating. My neighbors just got the big Expedition and they love that for the same reason. They have 5 children all 8 years old or younger and they can fit everyone and everyTHING that comes with that family size.

Tahoes are great - but not if you are actually driving a family that fits in a Tahoe...2 kids and you can make it work, more than that and you end up holding shit in the back as long as you can before the rear gate closes, and you know that when you open it up, everything is going to fall out. You have about a foot/foot and a half to store all of your shit that kids always need.

we’ve had our expedition for 5 years and 110k miles and the only thing we’ve ever done to it was a transmission relearn that cost us $50. bought it new in june of 20.

youll want the max though

this. either burb or expy max

I'd personally stay away from GM with their lifter issues in 5.3L and the 6.2L are having issues with their bottom end by losing some piston pin and causing to explode.

The new Chevy Traverse might be something to look at which has the Super Cruise in a lower level trim for under $50k. I'd say look a new Ford Explorer, but might be too small for what you're look for.
Saw this right after seeing this thread earlier this morning. On another note thanks to my FBI agent for keeping me on the same algorithm no matter what platform.

Oh yeah ours doesn’t have full blue cruise, just the lane assist and lane centering. I’m sure blue cruise is nice
It is, but I feel that Chevys Super Cruise is better since it's on more roads and the price is free for the first 3 years unlike Ford's where it's $50/month. I have Chevy's Super Cruise in my HC SIlverado and love it, especially when towing long distance unlike Ford's.

Wouldn't do a Tahoe with 7+. 3rd row sucks. Would get a Traverse before Tahoe.

Just got the Lexus TX for the wife. Similar size to traverse and not much more.

This is what I’m looking at for the wife as well

She wants me to replace my truck as well but Ive had 1 issue in 10 years that cost 250. I don’t have a real need for a truck anymore but I love that thing

Thanks for all the input and sorry to OP for hijacking thread. Went to look at a couple used Expedition Max’s today and ended up dropping $70k on a brand new one.

Heading over to the ding thread to bump it right now, and I’ll probably be bumping it 10-15 times over the next week as long as blow jobs count.

Side advice needed. A guy really wants to buy my Raptor. On one hand it would be nice not having that payment anymore; however I love the truck and know I’ll regret selling it. What do I do!?
