EVs aren't a new category. It's just a different fuel source for the same machine. These threads are always fun to see the people who would have said, “These car things are just never going to take off. You can’t beat an ole trusty horse” in 1890

That's sort of relative.I have never understood spending a lot of money on cars, but then again I’m sure it’s hard to figure out the best way to get to the micropenis convention
There is too much money going into them for them to not be produced.
I just don't think they're close to being of value currently in my eyes. 20 years probably different story.
Guy at work has a hybrid F150 and it is nice. Has me considering it as an option whenever that comes around.
The 100% electric isn't going to be my cup of tea anytime soon though

I mean, it's a Cadillac. It's a luxury SUV. It's not meant to be owned by everyone. Unfortunately, there are people rich enough that an Escalade wouldn't even be good enough for them. It's priced between the Premium and the V-Series, so that makes sense, but I mean...who wants to spend that much on a vehicle, regardless if it's gas or electric. That's insane.
How is a self-contained, internally-powered, human-controlled machine different than a box with wheels that you hook up to a horse? How’s that different than a carriage vs a car?

Dude... setting aside that you ignored the 2 other things I listed... a carriage doesn't have a motor. This is like asking how is an electronic calculator different than an abacus that you can hook up to a human. So the motor being on the inside vs the outside is your answer? Fair I suppose but doesn’t negate the point.
EVs have a higher capability than gas vehicles long term. I really don’t think that’s arguable - but no, the technology isn’t there now.
What about chariots, Jim?!My problem with the horse example was he said it's already in a cycle. Well yeah the existing horses are but if we had to go back to horses from cars there'd be a whole lot more horses than there are now.
Was interesting that a horse releases the same amount of CO2 as a car. If I heard that before I forgot.
I ain’t buying no electric vehicle until they improve the infrastructure of the gas stations to adopt more charging stations. Also, I need to see rules saying no politician who makes these EV requirements by a certain year cannot trade or own stock.
I do not want to be forced to buy an EV when politicians line their pockets by laws they sign and the stock they sell off afterwards.
I just want a real comparison. What about chariots, Jim?!
I’M NOT GIVING UP UNTIL WE TALK ABOUT HANNIBAL’S USE OF WAR ELEPHANTS AND THEIR POTENTIAL IMPACT ON CLIMATE CHANGE.I just want a real comparison.
Seriously. There’s a huge amount of cognitive dissonance going on there.Good thing O&G is lobby-free

I thought it was comical that GM's CEO cited that the right price point was critical to mass adoption of EVs going forward.
That is a lot of $ in a depreciating asset.
