The only elite team in the Big10 this yr is Purdue. Cockeye also is very good. There is no one in the conference we can’t play with & beat.
Nebraska hasn’t had a team like this since the Nee years. Eli Rice would be getting minutes on over half the teams in the Big10. He’s 10th in the rotation right now. That speaks volumes what we have this yr.
Fred will continue to get these guys better as the year goes on.
I have no doubt this is an NCAA team.
This is going to be a fun ride.
Pickle Smoochers will beat us but KState won’t. We’ll go into big10 play with 1 loss & may not lose again until January after the Pickle Smoochers game.
I’ll go on record stating they will have 21 regular season wins at a minimum.

You actually think Cockeye is in the upper echelon of B1G teams right behind Purdue ? I am not seeing that right now, even though they did give Pickle Smoochers a dogfight a couple weeks ago. After Purdue, there is a big drop-off. I think a realistic goal for Nebraska would be to finish in the Top half of the B1G or at least a .500 conference record. Lose no more than one non-conference game, and finish .500 in the B1G, and that should be enough to go dancing ..

Loving the physical play of the bigs (Allick, Mast & Gary). They not only do they hit the boards hard but they are also not afraid to bang into people down low. Bodies made for the paint in the B1G. Loved seeing the floor open up when we were "5 Out" with Mast up at the top of the key. I wonder if there will be any minutes for Keita if he comes back or does Fred just redshirt him?

One thing we for sure have over Pickle Smoochers is depth, only downside is we don’t want to get into an up-and-down game with them.

1-5 we matchup decently. Only Alexander has a potential mismatch. Game will come down to shutting off driving lanes for them and rebounding.

Pretty high level ball at PBA last night. I can’t remember a time in November when we were trading buckets (early second half) with a team. The fightin Fred’s were only gonna win that game if they played well…and they did

You don't need to worry about that at all. 0% chance of that playing out again this year.

Main reason is the non-conference. Nebraska is already at 43 in Kenpom. HUUUGE difference from past Nebraska teams. If I were to guess, that 2018-2019 was probably like 120-150th in Kenpom at this point that year.

Hoiberg actually schedules the non-conference to get us in the NCAA tournament now. Why he didn't do this every yr he's been here I'll never know.

This team is going to the NCAA tournament if they finish 4th in the B1G. There's zero chance they don't. Basically just win the KSU game, win all the buy games we got left and finish in the top 7 of the B1G and we'll be in. Lock, stock & barrel.

It's very fuckin simple math for the Huskers this year - all down to how Hoiberg scheduled the non-conference. That's why beating Duquesne was SO crucial. Bc if you're gonna go the cupcake route (which we're doing this yr), you HAVE to run the table with your buy games. That's why losing to Duquesne would have been very very bad. But that's also why I was so pleased to see us win that - because the entire team knew why we couldn't lose that game. When you go the cupcake route, it's more about not losing, if that makes sense. Bc the losses to the lower tier teams absolutely kill you. The risk you take w this schedule is you can't have any off nights. Duquesne was counting on us having an off night and they were honestly kind of shocked we played that hard & won (which made it funny watching their reactions).

Keita is definitely the odd man out this year, but I'm starting to wonder whether he has a role on the team at all in the coming years. His skill set kind of feels like a step backwards for what Fred has built. If he's healthy and can be dominant at cleaning the glass than he probably has a place, but Allick, Mast, and Gary provide them with such versatility at the 4/5 spot that it seems like Fred will go out and try to get something like that this offseason. Even Diop is his limited minutes has flashed as a passer which suggests he may have more staying power with how much Fred likes to invert the offense and play through the post at the top of the key

This is a pretty complete team. You would have to go back to Nee’s teams in the 90s to find a team this good. There’s probably 5-6 guys who could score 20 on a given night & there’s no dead weight in the 9 man rotation (& Rice is the odd man out right now along with Keita injured)
11 guys deep is unheard of for Nebrasketball

This team is not on the same stratosphere talent wise as the James Palmer, Isaac Copeland, Isaiah Roby, and Glynn Watson squad that went 22-11
