We are undefeated halfway through the season. Is it really that far fetched to project right now?
Personally I believe so, yes. We will lose at some point, and likely more than just 2 or 3 games. I LOVE this team. I mean, LOVE it. And it's gritting out some tough games. But I still don't consider this team talented enough to be considered a 1 seed. 3, 4 maybe, if we continue to gut out good wins the rest of the season.

Now, if we somehow win the Big 10 tourney, then I could be convinced, but as of now, I'm not sure we have a 1 seed kind of resume yet.

This has to be to get clicks right? I mean...come on....a 1 seed?
If you aren’t emotional and just looking at the data then yes - a one seed. 4-0 vs quad 1 opponents. One of the best wins in the nation. Already beat two of the top teams in the top basketball conference

Once New Mexico bumps up a bit, we will be tied for the most quad 1 games in the country. Our metrics are outstanding almost across the board. We have navigated a very very tough early conference schedule stretch without flinching. If you take the name Nebraska off of it, it looks like a 1 seed.

I do think its more likely we drop to a 2 or 3 by season's end, but to project as a 1 while we are still unbeaten isn't nuts.

Fair. But we'd have to avoid a losing streak of any kind. I"m still to PTSD with huskerbaskeball I guess. I'm really hoping we avoid a 3-4 game losing streak.

People keep talking about our "talent" not being there and I am not sure I understand what they are saying. We have maybe the top big in conference, a PG playing like the top in conference, a defensive big who is playing at a high level and improving, a sharpshooter who can cut, a 6th man who is great in the post, a senior guard who (outside of last night) does a lot of things very well etc. etc.

Look at it a different way comparing to last year

2025 1, 2, 3 and 4 seed records
1 - Auburn 28-5, Duke 31-3, Houston 30-4, Florida 30-4
2 - Bama 25-8, MSU 27-6, Tennessee 27-7, St Johns 30-4
3- Texas Tech 25-8, Kentucky 22-11, Wisconsin 26-8, ISU 24-9
4 - A&M 22-10, Maryland 25-8, Purdue 22-11, Arizona 22-12

Down the stretch, If Nebraska goes

8-8, 1-1 BTT - 24-9
9-7, 1-1 BTT - 25-8
10-6, 1-1 BTT - 26-7

Looking pretty good for a very high seed unless we go on a long losing streak. 2 or 3 seed looks very doable.

I hate to go down this road, because I know I'm going to get piled on for it. But we aren't winning all these games due to SUPERIOR talent. We have good talent across the board. Fred has put together a team with guys who have strengths in key spots, and depth (probably one of the better benches in the conference). He's been a master at assembling a group of guys who have a very high Baskeball IQ, and we are beating people with reletless defense and classic, old-school REAL team basketball.

But I don't see a single NBA-talent on this team, which, makes what Fred is doing even MORE amazing. Mast will get a shot somewhere, but remains to be seen if he can climb his way up to an NBA roster.
We have a college-ball talented, smart veteran group of guys who know how to play this game at a high level. That's how we are winning.

But if you're comparing this team to Duke, Michigan, Arizona, UConn and Cockeye-state talent-wise, I just have to disagree.

I’m not seeing it either. Mast had a legit shot to be an All-American, Sandfort is all big ten, and Frager is freshman all-big ten.

It’s like when people see a white running back and call him a “coach on the field” or “deceptively athletic.”

So talent for college basketball = NBA players?

Weird take given historic tourny results iyam

Not just best big, Mast will get B1G POY votes if his pace continues

You’re projecting though. If you don’t project and just take point in time, we probably have a one seed resume as of TODAY.

You’re right I am projecting. And I guess these tweets are talking about right now. I just don’t understand what the point of that is though. None of this shit matters until the end so why do we waste time projecting what it would be now?

It seems like they wanna get the narrative that Nebraska could be a one seed, but maybe I’m reading it wrong.

Pryce might get a shot. NBA loves shooters
