did he dislocate a hip? that was the most awkward landing I've ever seen
Probably looking at a “femoral neck fracture.” That is the segment of bone that connects his femur to the ball that goes into his hip socket.

I’d be shocked if it was anything else.

In cases where there wasn’t a MASSIVE trauma (severe car accident, etc.), it’s very likely that there was an underlying stress fracture or bone density issue.
 
Oh man. The old Big 8 was the Wild West of college basketball. Norm Stewart, Eddie Sutton, Larry Brown, etc. I remember watching this game as it happened.

“Sit down Norm” chants.
Billy Tubbs got hit by a car once when he was jogging so when they played at Nebraska the next time, a couple of students wore jogging suits with tire tracks painted on the back of them. Classic!

I lived through that Slow Moe era until Danny got hired my senior year. We went from averaging 55 point a game to scoring over 100 points in a few games under Danny the next year.
