Just lost a home game where the other team scored 49 points shot 29% from the field, 18% from 3, 8-13 from the line and had 3 more turnovers than us.

Funny how I caught heat for being critical of Fred, our offensive genius coach, who can’t put together a team capable of scoring 50 points. Good thing Loenser has put together soon good defensive game plans.

We will change defensive philosophy and approach after this year, although to nobody’s surprise when the guys are playing hard all of a sudden the opponent has a harder time gashing us from deep

We just do not have an overtly talented basketball team. The roster has two point guards that can’t shoot, the coach’s son, and a bunch of circus freaks rounding it out. I commend Fred for drawing blood from a stone while also simultaneously pray he is seeing the roster inefficiencies and working behind the scenes to ensure we have money lined up to make a jump from a skill and athleticism point of view next year

Every single game we play in this league the other team has either equal or better skill and equal or better athleticism. Often against the top half of the league, the other teams have both. Hard to win a lot of basketball games that way.

Cannot echo this sentiment enough. Fred has made chicken salad out of chicken shit with this roster to the best of his ability. It’s Brice Williams, Juwan Gary, and the fuckin island of misfit toys.

I just want to point out that the talent level on this team is Fred’s doing. That is part of his job.

While the staff obviously builds the roster each year, the reality is they’re constrained within the resources allocated to them to build the best roster they can within that budget. And that budget isn’t big enough to sign the caliber of athletes and playmakers that are required to win in the Big Ten at an elite level.
