I don't see how, we have 3 spots (2 if Ausar is N) to fill.

If no one else leaves, yes. If Burt leaves they'd probably look for someone else.

We lose 6 seniors + Griffiths & Janowski so there's 8 spots to fill. We've filled 5 of them (6 if Ausar is N).

I'm being ticky tack here, but the roster limits proposed in the House settlement didn't get signed off on by the old lady judge (who mentioned the roster sizes & how they were established as a sticking point).

So 15 was gonna be the number but now that's all back up in the air. IDK how aggressive we'd be in that space. The expectation with football was that there'd be some wiggle room in getting down to that over the next couple years, so if Fred had a dude or 2 he liked for the future, we might go after them still under the expectation we could float a spot or 2 for a year if that settlement got finalized.

When the NIT was a bigger deal back in the 90’s and early 2000’s I’d agree. Also if we were returning a bulk of our starters I’d also tend to agree (not as much so, though).

But the non-Madness tournaments now don’t do anything for recruiting if that’s what you mean momentum-wise. It was entertaining to watch tho and let the seniors have another couple games to claim something on their way out. I wouldn’t really call letting the seniors get paid as momentum more as just a nice send off, which is also a great thing.

Seton Hall won the NIT last year against a touted Indiana State team that should’ve pry made the tournament and both lost a lot of guys and were terrible this year.

I watched most of the crown, I’d say the biggest thing I’m taking from it is that essegian looked like a player again. I had gotten pretty down on him as big ten play wrapped up but I feel a lot better about his future for next year now, and I’m sure getting his confidence back doesn’t hurt him mentally going into next year also. So I’d say that’s one positive from the crown.

I watched most of the crown, I’d say the biggest thing I’m taking from it is that essegian looked like a player again. I had gotten pretty down on him as big ten play wrapped up but I feel a lot better about his future for next year now, and I’m sure getting his confidence back doesn’t hurt him mentally going into next year also. So I’d say that’s one positive from the crown.

It's a lot easier to play loose when there's no pressure. Did we see Essegian make a turn, or was he just playing well with no real stakes? That's the question.

It remains unclear whether Ausar will visit Villanova tomorrow. As of this afternoon, nothing had been confirmed on that front yet. He probably still makes the visit; it's just not 100% locked in. He's wrapping up his USC visit today.

I also get the sense that Villanova is scrambling a bit with like seven open scholarships to fill. They're bringing in a ton of visitors, so it's hard to say who their priority targets are right now.

My feeling is that if Villanova's money offer is at least in the same ballpark as Nebraska's, the Huskers should have a real chance to land Ausar. However, if the Wildcats double (triple?) NU's offer, it might be game over.

It's also notable that Ausar has family connections in LA, so the Trojans are still very much in the conversation.

When it comes to the best on-court fit and situation, though, I think Nebraska is the obvious choice.

Again, we should get an answer by this weekend.
