Based on some conversations I've had over the past couple of days, I went ahead and put a transfer RPM for Nebraska today.

I expect Cockeye transfer Pryce Sandfort to commit to the Huskers within the coming days. It could be as soon as today or it might take a few days, but all signs are pointing to Sandfort to NU.

The 6-7 wing visited Nebraska last week and then went to Illinois this past weekend. He was supposed to go to Ohio State this week, but he canceled that trip.

I think he'd be an excellent fit in Hoiberg's system and has been a priority NU target for a long time.

Here's more on Sandfort:
Go away Cockeye boy

I’ll take it. Good depth and can shoot

Improvement at least. Like my thoughts on Jlaw, will they change the game for us dramatically? No. We need to get 6-7 guys in the portal though. Having Sandfort & Lawrence don’t make your team worse.

I was disappointed when Lawrence left a year ago.

Now, we have 3 guys that have shot 38% or better from deep; Sandfort 40%, Lawrence 39% & Essegian 38%. Add in Mast and his 35%, plus ability to see the court & this next roster takes a major step forward with the addition of Sandfort & Lawrence. Still missing 1 or 2 pieces, but it looks a heck of a lot better to me.

As 2023-2024 proved, we don't need a single guy averaging 20 or more (Williams). Replacing Brice will be next to impossible from a single player standpoint, but we can replace his production across multiple guys.

Mast 15-16
Sandfort 12-13
Essegian 11-12
Lawrence 10-11
Buyuktuncel 9-10
I don't believe any of the numbers above are out of reason, or even stretching the possibility

57-62 points on average from a possible starting 5 isn't bad. (I don't think Essegian starts though). And the 57-62 puts us right at what we've averaged the last 2 seasons from our starting 5.

We need a Josiah Allick coming off the bench, and another G that pushes Essegian to the bench.

I think we still need to get a dude out of the portal. Just an all around athlete that can get us a basket when we need it. A $1million+ headliner portal transfer

Serious question, you believe he's a $1M player?

I'm likely in the extreme majority but I'd rather see that money split up between 2-3 players.
There's the thought process that this potentially impacts Berke if you land a guy like this. Not saying that isn't a good trade off, but not sure how they'd navigate that + the money piece.

Do I think he’s worth $1M? Close. Do I think he will get it elsewhere if not us? Probably.

With losing Brice, I worry we won’t have “that guy” that we can just have take over when needed. Pryce, Lawrence, Essegian, etc are all great shooters but how many can compete and just take a guy to the rack.

I wondered about that. I’d think it’s a good trade off and probably worth it.

Follow-up to that:

This was just a conversation. Staff wants him as a RS then play option. Sounds like he wants to play immediately. Do not blame him after Gard completely fucked him on a year of basketball. Played 27 min in 14 games as a true freshman.
Gard really screwed that up. They didn’t even need him this year.

We’ve seen the Summit League to Big Ten play transition and it’s not overly good.

Frankie, Kyle, Morgan….

Not saying he’s not better than those guys. I’m just saying I’m not sure I’m trading Berke for him and calling it even.

Dix’s insta story where he’s walking in to PBA gotta be an April fools joke and he’s going to Pickle Smoochers, right?
