Nebrasketball 2024-25 Season Notes Thread

This our guy

Me, a Nebrasketball and Charlotte Hornets season ticket holder, watching this:

Really odd firing. They just beat KU and KSU in the last week. Yes, they lost to a bad UCF team, just still weird.
I just realized that Craig Smith hasn’t even been at Utah for four years. It’s surprising, considering how successful he was at Utah State. What’s even more shocking is that Utah hasn’t made the tournament in nearly a decade—it feels like they’re usually a regular contender.

The early word is that this is all booster pressure and the AD being dead set on a change. Boosters wanted him out at the end of last year and the AD was set on making a change this season.

Saw them beat KU and K-State and panicked that they’d find their way back onto the bubble, so cut ties now to avoid the possibility. It’s a cold business.

Ruthless indeed. Craig is an excellent coach, and not giving him four years to turn around a program that hasn't made the tournament in basically a decade seems incredibly shortsighted.

People want immediate results these days and have no patience, it seems. 🤷‍♂️

Absolutely. BYU doing what its doing in hoops also playing a part out there. Those Mormons have the deepest NIL war chest in America for hoops.
