Some talk on HOL about Nebraska's relationship, or lack thereof, with Cockeye Western I found interesting:

Strohmeier sucks. Dude is a class A mega-douche
I’ve talked briefly about it before, but I was on staff at IW for 2 seasons, and while Nebraska didn’t exactly help themselves, those dudes all hate Nebraska anyways. Strohmeier and his brother are big Gopher fans, which is fine. And the rest of the staff is very pro-Cockeye or ISU. These dudes all have a decided slight against NU, even going so far as to tell their players to not go to Lincoln.
Nebraska was in the building on numerous occasions, to see players and just for goodwill trips. These were generally met with a cold shoulder or being rushed out the door. Cockeye Western more or less told kids to not go to NU, and eventually Nebraska wised up and got the message. I’ve heard from someone I know still in the program that they out loud in front of their team meeting told Perrion Winfrey that choosing Nebraska is the incorrect choice

Currently have a friend on staff and have heard much of the same BUT from what i have heard though is Rhule has made a good impression. Believe the entire staff was at a couple practices. Maybe turned the page or at least made it not anti Nebraska? Time will tell.

Huh…. I’ve sat at the same table at a bar multiple times with Stroh and multiple members of his staff at the same time and they expressed some deep frustrations about Nebraska not recruiting their kids. Also how much they hated Held and how they liked Chin a lot. They did say they really got frustrated when Chin or Frost wouldn’t even look at a kid if his measurables where what they considered to be in line.
Not sure there’s a deep hatred for Nebraska.

In fairness, I was on staff during Pelini/Riley, so I have no info on Frost. Although as someone who wanted frost fired since 2020, I wouldn’t argue with it and I wouldn’t be surprised if Frost & the drinking crew made things worse
