Game Thread Nebraska v Cockeye (Heroes Trophy Game) - Friday, November 28 11:00am CBS

Lateef being hurt makes it hard to properly evaluate, but I'm not feeling super confident if we roll into next year with him as the dude.

Gonna need to be a productive off-season in many, many areas.
Lateef has hit the hands of multiple receivers only to see the ball dropped. Cockeye has made some nice plays on other good throws. He had a miscommunication with Key but is otherwise playing just fine. I don't see how anyone can look at these last 3 weeks and think he is a problem. There's are at least 9 spots on defense, and two off tackles ahead of him in the pecking order of problems.

And just as I get ready to hit send on this, some no name Cockeye receiver makes a great catch down the sideline and helps out his quarterback.

Just put me out of my misery. When do the volleyball playoffs start?

You've just outlined the problem with Butler: he is good at scheming things up, terrible at football fundamentals. He didn't need to worry about players being fundamentally sound in the NFL.

You need a DC that drills them in the fundamentals - buck stops with him.

There is no spinning giving up 40 points (thus far) in Lincoln to a shit Cockeye team.
As long as you’re willing to admit that the front 7 personnel is undoubtedly below average, then I think this is a fair criticism. Fundamentals have been poor at times. I tend to blame the whole staff instead of the defensive playcaller.

This is not what I’m saying, but feel free to strawman my claim.

Like most things, the truth lies somewhere in the middle. Instant Butler haters like yourself overcorrect on Butler hate when it’s been clear since the start of the season the front 7 has below average P4 personnel.
I’m not a butler hater and have recognized his scheme has looked good a lot but lacks players on the line and lb to properly execute.

But continuing to square peg in a round hole when it’s continuously not working is a massive red flag

We're playing Cockeye. They have 40 points and will score more.

Teams that held Cockeye to less than 40 this season against Cockeye include (but are not limited to): Albany, Rutgers, and Michigan State.

I really think this season was fucked by the roster management. We saw the team was light in the DL and we paid too much $$ in WRs to keep Dylan happy.

Rhule knew he fucked up on the roster halfway through the Cincinnati game (TBT he already knew it). You just can't have a good season when in game 1 you see all of your massive flaws. Huge huge mistakes and I think Rhule knew it very early on and knew he fucked up.

We can dissect the coordinators and position coaches all we want, but bottom line is this is a bad roster. We've got too much $$$ going to our QB/WR/DBs. You win in the B1G with OL/DL/LB.
