  1. Seaofred92 Seaofred92
We won the game
Dylan 78.5% completion
EJ over 100
WRs are much improved
No turnovers
2 takeaways
Allowed 69 yards passing

But

Cinci goes for two bills on the ground
Offense no chunk plays, which stalled drives

Really felt like we were the better team though. Feel like we should have scored more points. It’s game one. We won the game. I’ll take it.

Special teams being so improved did win us this game. Our punter looks money on those inside the 10 type of punts. Our kicker hit a 52 yarder, which ultimately was the game winner. We didn't do anything stupid in the other areas of special teams. Kicker was money on everything, snaps and holds were solid.

Offensively, we will need to be able to open the throttle. Emmett will get worn down. Can't dink and dunk to close wins often enough to be actually good.

D Line is a big worry. I'd rather be in a 4-3 (I know, I know) and get another body on the LOS. But in B1G play, this D Line will get pummelled if they don't improve.

Happy we won. But Idc what fucking defense they run, figure out how to have an explosive play. I feel like I’ve seen less than 5 in the last 10 years.

EJ needs to play like he dropped a pass on every third down run. He is so spotty with how much effort he hits with. That shit will catch up to us at some point.

Defense looked good aside from not throwing anyone in spy until that last drive.

DR looked damn good. I only really saw 2 risky throws that had me clinch a bit.

I hope Bonner is ok. His strength was a weapon to use in spots.

Someone on the dline has to emerge as that motherfucker. Wasn’t there. But they did play better than I thought they would. I wish we had Carleone.

General Thoughts

1. Raiola was solid. No major mistakes. Took what the defense gave. Cincinnati was hell-bent on not letting anything get behind him. His MO as he develops will be to take what the defense gives and then hit a bomb or two each game.

2. Defense is a concern. I’m guessing Butler didn’t adjust to Sorsby taking the easy 8-12 yards whenever he wanted because he thought our DL could start containing and our LB’s could take better angles. He was wrong.

3. Was it just me or did Watson-Trent do absolutely nothing tonight?

4. Hope we can keep Emmett Johnson healthy this year. There’s a reason Mozee converted to RB. Coaches were looking for literally any underclassmen with some pop.

5. Defensive line is bad. Juedy is a backup at most P5 schools. Minnesota and Cockeye could boat race us if Butler can’t out-scheme them, because we ain’t gonna be able to hold up physically in base-d against them.

6. Archie Wilson might develop into a multiple time Ray Guy award winner. To do what he did tonight in literally his first football game ever was incredible. We don’t win this game tonight without him.

There was a lot to like from this game, but the bad parts were concerning. Biggest thing:Run defense has to improve before Michigan. Way too small and soft on the interior on Cincys scoring drives.

We miss Ty and Nash. I like RVP, but Juedy was invisible
