Shatel: What Nebraska fans think should happen with Huskers' student section

In the majority of big-time winning football programs, the students are made a factor at games. They are not forgotten, writes Tom Shatel. What happened to the Nebraska students?

I maybe in the minority but I was really turned off as a student when they kept moving the student section back farther from the field. Students, IMHO, are taken for granted at football games and then everyone likes to bitch when they don't show up for a 3-9 football team. I dropped my season tickets after my sophomore year but I had basketball tickets every year. I also went to most of the girl's basketball games too.

Managing the student section has to be a huge pain in the ass for an athletic department trying to preserve a sellout streak. Demand was through the roof when we were good, and there was a waiting list for both student and GA tickets. Student demand went down earlier than GA demand, so the shrunk the student section and moved it.

It's probably hard to grow the student section and move it to a better location while displacing folks that pay much more money plus a donation.
