I always thought 6-man it 8-man would be popular in Alaska but the teams that would play at that level, wouldn’t be able to afford it. For example. Varsity Boys and Girls only has a budged of 80k and the district provides about 40. We have to fundraise the rest for varsity games and then do extra fundraising for JV.

There is one tournament our JV used to do, similar to the Mudecas tournament (Class D size schools) that would cost us 10k in flights alone.

I knew someone that was teaching and coaching VB up in Alaska and told similar stories. I believe she was on an island up there and the school would provide them one home game a year, and they had to fund raise to bring in a team for a second home game.
