We were the smallest school in the Eastern Midland Conference for years. Finally filled in, and we’re definitely on our way to Class A.

But yes, Class B is the most out of balance class in NE High School Sports.

Most of my friends that still live in NE seem to either live in Bennington or Gretna. When I still lived in NE, Elkhorn or LaVista were the hip places to move to. Pretty soon Bennington and Gretna will be like the crappy malls you drive past to get to the new places 20 miles farther.

Most of my friends that still live in NE seem to either live in Bennington or Gretna. When I still lived in NE, Elkhorn or LaVista were the hip places to move to. Pretty soon Bennington and Gretna will be like the crappy malls you drive past to get to the new places 20 miles farther.

There’s essentially no retail or commercial in Bennington. It’s evolved from a rural, ag-centric to a suburban bedroom community.

Unless they incorporate Highway 36 into the new “outer loop” as part of enhanced Interstate bypass, there’s simply not enough traffic to support a mall. Another 20 miles west is essentially Fremont.
