How does Kearney Catholic move up to C1 when multiple schools in C2 have higher enrollment? The way Nebraska does this doesnt make sense to me.

Is there a reason they haven't split class A into 2 or 2 class Bs? You have schools with 440ish playing schools over a 1000?

Brownell-Talbot/Cornestone Christian and Chase County voluntarily opted down into Class C2, knowing they would be playoff ineligible.

Schuyler received a waiver due to very low participation rate and history of success.

Kearney Catholic just ended up being in the unlucky spot of having to move into C1 to fill out the remainder of that class.

Do they do this for each sport? You mentioned football, but what about the other two sports basketball and baseball? Or is that just the same?

but like how can you opt down? seems completely silly...so they are just going to play C2 regular season for shits and giggles and impact other schools that actually have the proper enrollment numbers?

Enrollment numbers are not directly correlated to competetiveness.
Yeah but it seems like it’s something they need to look at. Oklahoma added distinctions for the highest classification based on enrollment. Oklahoma is 5a1 and 5a2. Think Texas doe the same now also.

I'm not saying there shouldn't be a division. I'm just saying that enrollment numbers aren't the way to make the determination.
