Former assistant Andy Sawyers, now the coach at Southeast Missouri State, has a “rule of 25” that’s generally true of good teams. Add up the combined seasons of regulars in a lineup — a freshman equals one, a sophomore equals two, etc. — and the total should be at least 25.

Nebraska’s number in 2021 was 30, even with two freshmen mainstays in infielders Max Anderson and Brice Matthews. Last year was 25.
This season it will likely range from 28 to 34. That includes four fifth-year returners in Efry Cervantes (corner infielder) and Griffin Everitt (catcher/first baseman) along with transfers Casey Burnham (center field) and Charlie Fischer (first base/outfield).

Undefeated regular season? Probably
CWS bound? Definitely
National champs? Oh indeed

Kind of sounds like our rotation this year will be:

1. Olson (Junior, left-handed, second team All-Big Ten 2022)
2. Kaminska (Junior, right-handed, transfer from Wichita State, was a first team freshman all-amerian)
3. Sears (Junior, right-handed, transfer from Western Illinois/Cockeye Central CC, was division 2 juco all-american)
4. Clark (Freshman, left-handed, top 5 Canadian prospect)

Where does Kyle Perry factor or does he at all?

Any word on Christo?

Clark or Garza are slotted for Sunday.

Bullpen.

Took a jump in the fall but not enough to crack the weekend rotation. We have a couple Tuesdays-Wednesday games this year so I anticipate him starting the second of two pending the weekend bullpen workload.

We also have a couple 4-game series so it'll be interesting how that's handled.

What do you think the lineup will look like?

Speculating on defense:

Infield is Fischer, Anderson, Matthews, Carey with Cervantes late game defender. Outfield is 2 B's and Anglim. Caron behind the dish with Everitt as DH.
Which of the newcomers should we get to know, hitting wise? Too many newcomers to keep track of.
