Is Nebraska Nil going to get serious about player acquisition this winter?

Oregon is showing what it looks like when your financial backing is fully invested in bringing in talent.

I’m not talking about bringing in some guy that was a 2021 FCS all American. I’m talking about really paying transfers?

Is Nebraska willing to play the game? If not then us getting upset about losing is kind of silly at this point. Otherwise we are just another team not trying to win and being happy being a whipping boy in a big conference to get a big check so our admin can make more money.

I think we will get a few decent pieces but not the kind we need to take the next step, which is why I think we will be looking at a 7/8 win season next year

You do realize Jalen Lloyd wasn't offered by anyone? Evan Cooper was completely sold after watching his tape. He's a freshman. These guys know talent. Do they need to hit the portal? Yes. QB is everything.
They need more than just a QB. You have to be willing to overpay. By a lot.

The next step would be 6 wins (which just got much harder). 7/8 wins would be like 3 steps forward.

If they stadium is renovated from donations then I would think it it directly effects NIL donations.
I guess I assume that most of the NIL donors will give to pretty much anything and the university will tap others funding mechanisms for the stadium. Maybe there's some overlap, but I don't know that our NIL problems are as much financial as they are a lack of desire to push the envelope in the same way other places have.

But then again I also don't know that NIL matters all that much for talent acquisition as much as us being the worst P5 program over a decade

I can recall the Raiola story when Georgia upped the price and we wouldn’t make. Seems a little silly not to step up and match it today doesn’t it? So far I haven’t been impressed with Nebraska NIL people. They’re just ok

They’ll have to show me they’ll spend the money. I kinda think they will…but I gotta see it. I think we have a good pitch for transfer guys right now so it’ll be interesting to track.
