I thought it was all just “fine”. It needs to be better than that. Was disappointed in the offense. Really like the WRs but overall it left a lot to be desired. Cincy wasn’t gonna let us get over the top and it worked because we couldn’t consistently run the ball.

Had a chance to close out the game at the end and couldn’t do it. Cincys QB made an absolute bonehead throw at the end. Who knows where we’d be today if he doesn’t do that. Wins a win but i expected more.

I'm neutral. Saw this as a 7-5/8-4 team coming into the season and they still look that way. Game 1 and they may improve but I'll wait and see.

I thought we could be 8-10 before the season now it's probably 7-8. How many times have we saw shit the last couple of years and said it's only first game jitters, 2nd game jitters.

Fuck what we saw against northern Cockeye last year ended up being exactly who we were and that kinda of creeped up during this game.

I will say this game was about to be straight ass whooping until he decided to go for it on that fourth down that totally changed the momentum.

Some of it sure but their QB famously looked like a Yale QB from 1918 for the second half of last year.

He’s not going to spontaneously turn into the second coming of Tom Brady in an offseason.

That said. I like our CBs a lot.
He’s one of the better QBs we’ll face this year.

Neutral for me as it’s week 1 but a couple thoughts:

- Offense last year in the final 3 to 4 games looked better than what I saw tonight JMHO. Felt like I was watching a Satterfield O compared to a Dana O.

- Defensive line is worse than I thought they’d be.
satt o? we had a 100 yard rusher and no turnovers

I hope that’s the case and not the self-rationalization we all do when we have trouble with an opposing QB.
Last year Sorsby passed for 2,813 yards, 18 TDs, 7 ints, with 447 yards rushing and 9 rushing TDs.

I'll ignore the rest of the non-conference games but these are the other QBs:

Michigan - Bryce Underwood: Highly rated freshman. Hard to say.
Michigan State - Aiden Chiles: 2,415 yards, 13 TDs, 11 ints, 225 yards rushing
Maryland - Malik Washington: Highly rated freshman
Minnesota - Drake Lindsay: Redshirt freshman
Northwestern - Preston Stone: Transfer from SMU. Had 3,197 yards in 2023, 28 TDs, 6 ints. I assume he got injured last year. 421 total yards passing
USC/UCLA/Penn State - They all have better QBs (Nico Iamaleava might be similar)
Cockeye - lol

Now that you put it that way…….he’s no worse than middle of the pack if some of these dudes play over their heads.

Honestly watching him last night, I thought I was watching a more decisive Logan Smothers on Testosterone Cypionate. I think Butler genuinely confused him in the passing game and that led to some of the runs.

There were a lot of positives to take away, particularly the kicking game, the secondary, Lindenmeyer and the receivers.

But I'm curious if those who answered they're more confident believe Michigan fans should feel more or less confident now about our 9/20 matchup. I checked out some Michigan boards and they seem to be feeling more confident, so not sure how to square that.

I just want to state that we'd all feel a lot better and we beaten the piss out of Akron rather than played a tight game with Cincinnati, but this is a really good learning experience early in the season.

Other teams struggling a bit always make us feel better about our team even though results in college football are rarely exchangeable, e.g. I think Michigan would beat the piss out of Cincinnati and we didn't, ergo Michigan will beat the piss out of us. Maybe it's true, but transitive property rarely holds

Not exchangeable, but our D linemen aren't going to gain 40 pounds in 3 weeks

Everyone complaining about not blowing Cinci out needs to remember there is a good reason why the spread was only 6.5. Vegas isn't grossly wrong very often. People who simply classify a teams quality based on "how bad I feel the team should be because the name on their helmet" are the ones who will always be disappointed in the Huskers play against them.

Every year, teams wipe out tons on their roster, making the ability to determine how "good" or "bad" they are, much more difficult. If you all are really down on the game last night, then I think (just my opinion) you might want to start learning how college footbal has changed, and how simply winning is the name of the game now.

I’d say they looked at Cincinnati like most of us did. A 5 or 6 win team that we should have handled easily if we’re really head and shoulders better than 2024 Nebraska.

Of course we have no idea how Cincinnati finishes and what they end up being, but we’ll know a little better after they’ve played what looks to be a decent Kansas team and Cockeye State the following week. If they’re 2-3 at that point, well….hell.
