There is an OL from Cockeye St visiting todayWhat’s the first thing our moron coach does when he knows we need elite linemen on both sides of the ball. You guessed it. Not that
No Joe dirt?My sources say he's a mix of Raiola, Crouch, Joe Burrow, Joe Montana, Joe DiMaggio, and Joe Momma. Huge get.
Now let’s get this guy 3 stud OL and let him work.Verified at 6-foot-1 ½ and 207-pounds in June of 2022. Possesses a sturdy frame with wide shoulders and a strong lower half. Possesses growth potential to add necessary weight to his frame. Although his height would be categorized as undersized for the position, his 10-inch hands are in the 70% percentile of NFL starters.
Displays good athleticism and mobility to extend plays in and outside the pocket. Quick twitch athlete with natural avoid and escape ability. Flashes excellent pocket instincts and awareness while keeping his eyes down the field. Appears to possess a good play temperament, rarely playing rushed amidst pressure.
Possesses a quick release and strong arm capable of making every throw on the field. Exhibits natural instincts and excels on the move outside the pocket as a passer. Demonstrates the ability to consistently play with touch and anticipation, while showing the ability to throw his receivers open. An instinctive passer that has a knack for understanding how to extend plays within the pocket with his subtle athleticism and ability to keep his eyes down field as plays develop.
Although sample size as a senior was limited due to injury, he improved his completion percentage from 61% as a junior to 73% as a senior in four games. A savvy pocket passer with excellent game management skills, Minchey projects to a high level multi-year starter at the Power Five level. Has a good understanding of the position and processes the game quickly. Would not be surprised if he makes an impact sooner than later at the next level.
Now let’s get this guy 3 stud OL and let him work.
I agree with production over potential. Could you give an example of who you’d be looking for in terms of production? Katin Houser?I had talked a bit on here that Stewart, Rhule, and Holgo were going to have a tough decision at QB. Do you go get someone with production at this level and watch Lateef transfer out, leaving you with only one scholarship QB on your roster for 2026 (obviously they would go get some backup pieces). Or do you get a guy that hasn't really played, no real production, but has high upside due to high school rankings to come in and battle it out with Lateef. The answer is obviously the latter.
I don't really like it, but it's probably the most realistic option. If we can grab one more guy like him, I'll be on board. I want 3 guys that haven't really shown anything going at it, not just two. You need another scholarship QB anyway, can't roll in with 2 for the 2026 season.
Production > Potential
Not really. Kids improve. Let’s let Geep coach them.Need 7
With the number of holes in this roster, especially on the lines, I’m fine with moneyballing with a “Potential” QB keep distribute more assets elsewhere.
Best case scenario, he’s a Dante Moore who waited his turn and developed under 2 hired gun transfers. More than likely we have a guy who’s a better version of TJ.
Now we just need to hit on the rest of our portal takes to make this work.
Ya, I guess I don't know what was promised or said. Hoping nothing since he doesn't really have any stats to back that up. I think it will be an open competition.I came to the opposite conclusion - that no matter what we’re saying, he’s going to be the starter.
I think this is where I'm at. Let's get a guy (and possibly another) like this to help bolster our lines on both sides. With the number of holes in this roster, especially on the lines, I’m fine with moneyballing with a “Potential” QB keep distribute more assets elsewhere.

I would guess more than that but 🤷🏻♂️I got myself wondering how much Minchey cost.
If I were drawing it up I’d say 500k plus incentives based on incentives that would take him over 1m total comp. Second year base salary equivalent to what his total comp was in year 1.
Perform here and you’ll be a millionaire.
We may just offload about 3m in salary from the QB position.

I do think we are going to have some big wins on the line fwiw.
Dude was born to be a Hukser.Although sample size as a senior was limited due to injury,
exactly, I was hoping Rhule would learn from Hoiberg and simply recruit exciting whites, but it appears he hasnt embraced it just yet.Dude was born to be a Hukser.
I think you'll have misses no matter which way you go, production or potential. Production just gives you a much better hit rate. Watson-Trent and even a Jaylin George had plenty of production at lower levels. However guys like Samari Toure and Omar Brown were at lower levels and came here and were very good.I agree with production over potential. Could you give an example of who you’d be looking for in terms of production? Katin Houser?
I know production with Watson-Trent didn’t work out for us so I’m wondering if there is another qualifier beyond production.
Kienholtz? Not sure if I spelled it correctly. He is a team player for sure, QB is just a different animal. There's only one that plays on a team for the most part. I know a lot of fans say "it's ok to be the backup because look, Lateef played as one" and that's just not reality for these kids. It's a nice dream for fans, but that's not how it works.
If they brought someone in that had production at this level, they would have had to pay him quite a bit and guarantee him the starting spot, which would have drove Lateef out. I would have been fine with that, the problem is, there's a report that the North Texas QB is getting 7 million to head to Okie State. We would probably have to pay close to 5 million. Minchey we can get for far less than that AND keep Lateef here.
Unfortunately I think you'll see another Davila type guy in the fold, but I'm ok with that. They really aren't going to be able to get someone the caliber of Minchey for the third scholarship guy.
Looks like he’s probably the guy
Yes. I broke the news to my nephew and brother on NYE. Then I sent the X to them today.....confirming once again that TPB delivers.I just want to point out that we yet again had it here before anywhere else
