Mertz has COVID

I don’t believe they actively will but if 3 dudes have it rooming together who have been with each other all week /weekend I would guess more positives will come out in the coming days... just like other schools outbreaks & cancellations they’ve dealt with. I sure hope not but It’ll be something to watch this week
Though 3 people who live together are most likely to get it from each other vs. just contact at practice and games. If the team is above the big ten threshold, they'll cancel, but ain't no body looking to blow a bigger hole in their athletic department budget than absolutely necessary

Well the morons on RSS would beg to differ....those imbeciles seriously believe that Wisc will actively now try and get the game cancelled. I am not shocked they don't realize that by doing that they would be sacrificing basically half their season.
This has all been a conspiracy against us brother. It goes all the way to the top.

Hillary Clinton

Over in the Wisconsin sports subreddit somebody there remembered hearing about a 0.5% false positive rate in Big Ten Covid testing so far. Those rapid result tests are getting very accurate.

Edit: posted this on Tater Island and figured it was worth a repeat.

—————-

According to this BBC article from earlier this month there is a false positive rate of somewhere between 0.5-0.8%. Odds are significantly higher than he has it than he doesn’t.

https://www.bbc.com/news/54270373

A few caveats:

-The article states that this figure is from community testing and not a random sample. Community testing, according to the article, means that those numbers assume that those individuals are more likely to show symptoms than those who are randomly tested. I haven’t seen anything indicating whether or not Mertz was showing symptoms.

-Not sure if that figure is for rapid response or
PCR testing specifically.

-Our luck indicates that his PCR results will indicate a negative result and our woes will continue. FML.

They just said on 1620 a moment ago that Chryst said they DO NOT have an outbreak, and from his understanding the game is not in jeopardy.

They'll crawl over broken glass to play assuming their testing numbers don't force the Big Ten to cancel

Careful now, this ain't Tater Island, it's the Platinum Board. And this is a pretty tater-esque post...
Well they might be down to the 4th stringer. The one Wisconsin board was confident they would whoop our ass with Chase Wolf. If we somehow lose to a 4th stringer it will be pretty bad.
