They played well last night. Cockeyes blew out Michigan St by 26 and we kept it to 10 points. We just don't have the horses in the post to compete in the B1G if we aren't hitting our outside shots. Fred has to get some big bodies that can rebound and block shots on defense yet at least have enough offensive game that they have to be guarded 10-15 feet from the basket. JUCO Center should help next season and Walker could come back. Walker is a very cerebral player and really understands positioning & spacing on Offense and Defense. However he is not a threat offensively if he is more than 5 feet from the basket plus not a Shot Blocker or big physical body on defense. He would be a nice Back Up Post to have on the team. Andre still has so much development when it comes to footwork plus has suspect hands. Plays with heart but the game doesn't come easy to him. Losing Banton late in process to the NBA really hurt as he was the only real PG/Facilitator we had. Plus he is 6-9 with long arms which really helps disrupt Guards from making easy entry passes to Centers who can position close to the basket because Walker can't front them because they tower over him. Trey, Verge and Webster are not true PG's as they are more Combo or Shooting Guards. Verge should be playing in the And 1 Basketball League.
I noticed Keisei didn't play last night. We basically kept it at a 8 Man Rotation using a 3 Man Bench (Wilcher, Andre, Webster). I think Lat is a complete disappointment but Fred doesn't have anyone else to put in there that can cover a Forward. It will be interesting to see who moves on and what they are able to add to this recruiting class. Hopefully we can add at least 1 more big athlete to help in the Post. Tired of getting pushed around by these B1G teams that all seem to find a way to recruit monsters for Centers.
