My thoughts were in the EPP, but if I were to put it simply, I think our defense can handle a lot of what they want to do we've proven we can scheme and defend against it successfully. Where I think they could keep it interesting is in the frequency they look to go deep.
Offensively, if we have the same gameplan we had last week we're going to have a better outcome against La Tech than NIU. They are worse defensively than NIU is. I actually think we should run with 3 WRs a lot. Our OL is going to manage their DL in the run game, and if we get some of their players out of the box, then we're going to gash them. What they'll likely do is play the run, though. So, even if we have 3 wide, they defend it with a LB vs the Nickle they used against SMU and UNT. This is where I want us to challenge them deep and to the outside a bunch. Make them play with the nickel and then pound the rock to close it out.
I'm sticking with my 42-19 score. I think they'll get around 350 yards on us because of big plays, and once we're less aggressive at the LOS, they start to hit us with crossing routes, drive routes, etc. I don't expect their run game to be specifically impactful for them to the point they stick with it. But they can get into FG range on half of their drives, but only get a TD on one due to sacks in the red zone. Our offense has fewer stall outs and are able to run the score up.
