Breaking Killers coming to Omaha

This will be unpopular, so @bant me if need be, but I don't get the killers at all. I will say that @#HBD playing slightly different versions of Mr. Brightside on repeat 20-30K times between 2005 and 2012 has jaded my opinion. Hell, there was a time when he had an MP3 player (generic iPod) that only had Mr. Brightside on it, like 4-5 different versions - not one single other different song.

TLDR - Fuck 'em.
i was wondering how a concert would go if you only have 1 hit song

I tried booking a show with The Killers. It was after they first exploded on the scheme around 2003. Problem was they only had 28 minutes of music, literally 28 minute set was all they could play. My music fans would have been pissed paying a higher ticket price if the headlined played for under 30 minutes. I passed on them for this reason. They played at the Fox Theater on that tour and the promoter told me the boys were hammered during the show. So much that after the show the band was getting ready to head back to the hotel but they couldn't find the lead singer. Eventually found him passed out on the floor in the Sound Booth. Guess he stumbled back there to lay down and take a nap. Said it was a good show, but definitely a quickie for a pop/punk/indie band.

Punk music can be high energy so sometimes you only get 60-90 minutes out of the bigger headliner but never heard of only 28 minutes. Even some bands with older member like the Dead Kennedy's played for over 2 hours. Green Day for over 2 1/2 hours. Dropkick Murphy's 90+ minutes. Flogging Molly is 2 1/2+. Unwritten Law played for over 2 hours. Strung Out actually played for close to 3 hours cuz they were having a blast, literally needed oxygen after the show. Suicidal Tendencies was 2+ hours. Bad Brains 2+ hours. Couldn't in my right mind put the Killers on stage for only 28 minutes. I was trying to get their manager to convince them to learn some covers they could play to extend the time. Now they have enough material so they play 90+ minute shows.
My old best friend from high school was cousins with the drummer, Ronnie Vannucci. I went to every show here in Denver whenever they were here, and hung out with the band afterwards. It was great times.

I still have Ronnie’s cell number and tried to hook @BIG TONE SOPRANO up at their show in Dallas but he definitely doesn’t remember me or care anymore that I’m not friends with his cousin

We did a 6 week US/Canada tour with Strung Out back in 2015. Good times.

What/where is your venue?

I booked shows and festivals all over Colorado. I bought a club called Gartons in Vail, CO and re-opened it as 8150 (which is the elevation of Vail) in 1999 and sold it 2004. I think I had Strung Out play in 2001 or 2002. They were touring with Poison the Well & Rise Against. Was a great fucking show. They were only contracted to play like 60 or 90 minutes but kept looking over at me after their time was up asking if they could play a couple more songs. They probably played an additional 15-20 songs. Crowd was going nuts and they wanted to keep playing. I wasn't going to stop them. Show was supposed to end around 11 pm but they played past midnight. They were hyperventilating and I had to get them oxygen. Great show. Cool dudes, liked working with them.

Nice!

Obviously, they had slowed down quite a bit by the time I toured with them, but they still tried to hang from time to time. It was a fun tour. Pretty grueling at times, but every tour has its moments.

We never played any of the mountain towns. Played Denver a bunch, Bluebird theater once, Gothic once, Marquee a few times, Ogden a couple of times. Always a fun city to play. Played FoCo and Colorado Springs a couple of times early in our career but by the end, it was strictly Denver only.

Played Riot Fest one year so we got to play the parking lot at Empower Stadium. Our "green room" was in the visiting locker room, so that was kinda cool.
