Kansas Job

If they're smart, they'll hire Monken, but they won't.

I also find it funny in the tater island thread someone made a comment about the "last Buffalo coach didn't work out so well." and Dean comes to Gill's defense because he was forced to hire a bunch of people he didn't know to be on staff. GTFO with that bullshit. Gill sunk himself.
Is it bad I hope they hire Held?

Gill was a disaster from Day 1 at KU. They knew they fucked up bad once he got on campus. Forcing his Christian Values on the players and coaches wasn't going to work. Plus rules like his early curfews and cell phone restrictions were asanine. Worst part was he clamped down on the players having a life yet his teams had some of the lowest GPA's of any KU team.

I have friends who's kids played under Gill at KU and know some of his Asst Coaches. This story always cracks me up and pretty much sums up the Disaster that was Turner Gill. During his introductory meeting with the team he gave the typical Rah Rah Speech followed by his starting with his list of rules. He informed the players that they were not allowed to drink during the season. And followed that up by saying that the coaches weren't allowed to drink either during the season. He had not discussed any of this with the Asst Coaches he hired. Chuck Long, who was his OC, after hearing the "No Drinking During the Season" leaned over and whispered in another coaches ear "Looks like I won't be here long". It took everything the asst coach had not to bust out laughing when Chuck whispered that.

Gill's staff also said that Turner wasn't really into putting in long hours. Was more worried about family time than actually burning the midnight oil watching tape or game planning. Basically it was obvious he was a square peg in a round hole. Last week I mentioned Turner was still available to a couple of the big KU Boosters I hang with, and lets just say they muttered some seriously foul language concerning his time as their Coach.
