Jack's Stack is good, but if you're a BBQ snob, I would recommend Q39 instead. There's a pretty cool place called Strang Hall, which is a Chef's Collective. Think of it as an upscale food court where you can order from 5-6 different places from your phone (they also have a full bar for you Jim). If you find yourself looking for some good baked goods in the morning, stop by Tous Les Jours. It's in Korean Town and who knew that Koreans could make such good pastries, but man, their stuff is off the charts, especially their caramel apple turnover.
Came here to say Q39. Do it, you won't regret it.

You aren't going to find a great steakhouse in Olathe, you would have to venture into Kansas City proper. But even then, I wouldn't say KC has "great" steakhouses. BBQ reccos are right on point. Q39 or Joe's KC would be my picks for where you are staying. Jackstack is good, but I would say it's sides are better than the BBQ. Although if you go there get the Prime Beef Rib. It's worth everything you pay for it.

Won't even mention the BBQ as it has already been said 10x over .. But if you want amazing Buffalo Wings, The Peanut is off the charts .. there are a couple of them to my knowledge in JOCO

Last time I was in Kansas City was the 2006 Big 12 Championship game against Oklahoma and my buddy was driving and ran like 3 red lights in a row and almost got us killed

And then we went to the game and froze to death and we couldn't stand because the old ladies behind us bitched and moaned everytime we stood up

Fun times

I whole-heartedly endorse Jack Stack. We go there just about every time we go to KC because a friend of ours manages one. So I may be biased, but I've never left there unsatisfied.
Jack Stack in the plaza then Granfalloon for libations. @BIG TONE SOPRANO and I saw the biggest set of tits I've ever seen on the hoof there one year. Would recommend.

Doesn’t it just take carefully prepped meat and BBQ sauce? I don’t get the hype of people thinking some region is better at “BBQing”.
Region doesn't really matter. Just more likely to find places that are good at making certain kinds of food. For example, Texas has more quality authentic Mexican food than Nebraska because the demand for authentic Mexican is higher there.
