I am of course talking about the OL.

Taking into account...

The ineffective (Corcoran and Benhart)
The not up to Big 10 snuff (Piper and Hixon)
The probably not ready...yet (Lutovsky and Evans-Jenkins)
The juicer (NouROIDin)
The In & then suddenly out (Teddy P)
The never have so far (Bando and Banks)
The probably never gonna (Conn and Lynn)
The just taking up space (Miller)

Then, of all things, you have an opportunity to add from the portal.... something you did for almost every other position with success.....you roll the dice and it comes up Anthony and Williams.

*sad trombone sound effect

I literally haven't seen anybody reporting that either of those dudes are making any sort of impact beyond depth. And it's worse than that, those dudes must be so bad that even with one guy going out for the year for steroids they still don't get mentioned. Followed by an interview that ends up praising Benhart, the guy who statistically might have been the worst rated OT in the Big 10 last year. We've been through months of preparation, study, the transfer season, spring football and now summer and the best we can do is say that "Hey, Benhart is looking at bit better".

Guys, I want to be wrong. I hope I am wrong. I hope someone will come here and explain to me why I'm an idiot. I welcome the enlightenment. But.....I think we are fucked.
When the most promising thing I've heard in the lead up to this season's OL play is that at least we don't have to play against Karlaftis, Hutchinson and Boye (Minnesota spelling???) then I think we are in for a deep, deep tunnelling into the far reaches of our assholes. Lube up.

I think there are multiple layers to the struggle, but at the end of the day it just sucks and that’s what matters. Overall, I do think it’s been a talent, scheme, and coaching issue the last 4 years. Not sure Whipple and Raiola are the best match scheme wise but we’ll see

If the OL isn't an improvement this year, it's hard to imagine Frost being retained... which sucks because I think it's in everyone's best interest for Scott to work out as Nebraska's head coach.

Our best hope this year is that we have a QB that was one of the quickest in the nation at getting the ball out.

Our OLine will be worse but I doubt it looks as bad as last year when our dogshit OLine was combined with a QB with struggles getting the ball out on time. I’m probably wrong though

What are you talking about? Haven’t you heard??? We have Raiola coaching our hogs up front. He’s been coaching them how to fire off the line and hit. With this news I’m expecting 3 All B1G selections up front. Why else would we hire a coach with hardly zero experience but is an Uncle of the top QB in the upcoming recruiting class who still ended up picking another B1G school.

Raiola’s been successful every day at Nebraska making guys puke and chewing gum. And he’s almost out of gum. So watch your bum hole.

Austin was holding this team back for so long, had nothing to do with anything else in our program so expect the 3-9 to flip to 10-2 and god damnit bring that trophy back to Lincoln! GBR

Hopefully we can run some quick routes and make some guys miss or get some semblance of a run game going.

Corcoran will be fine. The kid had ONE total start under his belt going into 2021 and played most of last season at roughly 75%. Seriously wouldn't be surprised if half way thru the season, he's being considered for All-Big Ten.

2020 was a terrible season for an offensive linemen to come in as a True Freshman. Off season lifting and conditioning was gone. For Corcoran, his 2021 season was basically year one, and he's a better fit for guard anyway. The kid literally just 21 years old last week.

As for Benhart, he allowed 8 sacks in the first 5 games of the season. He allowed 1 the final 7. I'm not saying he's going to continue to produce at that level, but I heard he turned the benching into a positive and really focused on improvement instead of sulking.

I think part of the reason our run game looked so unorthodox is that opposing DCs would willingly let Adrian run free because of his fumble risk. Assuming we’re less focused on running a base IZR which allowed the DC to eliminate the RB from the run game, it will at least be more consistent. However if our OLine sucks, that consistent will be a 1 yard gain

My understanding is that Whipple is going to want to push the ball down field a lot. That paired with our OL is a match made in hell. I’m predicting that we set some sort record for sacks allowed. It wouldn’t be a Nebraska team if we don’t have a couple stats where we are the absolute statistical worst in all of D1.

You can still push the ball downfield with a 3 step drop. It just takes timing and easy reads. Now I’m not saying we won’t set a record for sacks allowed. I’m just saying vertical passing doesn’t have to mean long slow drops. The top NFL QBs still average around 2.6 seconds in “Time to throw”, I can’t find the stat ranking anywhere now but I vaguely remember Casey being in the low 3s while Adrian was one of the worst in the country in the 4s

He had 2 sacks allowed vs Ohio State, but still that is a massive improvement considering those last 7 games were better competition
